Can i get an AP BEFORE i close?

We close in June, and our points are available in August. We will be going down for 10 days in October. We are thinking we may like to take a quick trip to Disney in May! We know we cant use points yet, but how about purchasing an annual pass? I would hate to buy tickets now, since we are going back in October. Any chance we can get the Annual pass with DVC discount, before we close?

Yes, you can! I don't close until the end of the month and I bought my AP's in February. They aren't activated anyway, until you physically get there to activate them at one of the Guest Services area.

I ordered them on-line through the dvcmember.com. I clicked on the pic on the website to buy the AP's.

I THINK I'll be all closed before I go in May, but I won't have any membership number or anything until after the closing right? Or are you saying that I can go to dvcmember.com and order the annual pass but wait until I get there to PROVE that I am a member? THat would be great!

This was my first contract, and yes I bought through Disney.
No, you should get a membership # first, I did. I bought into DVC in Dec and had a membership card by the end of January. I ordered mine through the website because I had a membership #.

We bought from Disney at SSR, forgoing current points for a future building for the $10 off per point discount, so we didnt close until the middle of last month technically. That said, we have been able to use our DVC discounts and membership benefits since we were "approved" by Disney way back in errrrr ha! I can't remember now! but it was MONTHS before our closing was official. (Just looked on my cards - they say 08/04 memberdate - but our first use year didnt begin until March 2005).

Once you have received the offiicial ok from Disney, the temp card with your number that you got from them is valid. I would assume with a resale that you can begin using your DVC membership as soon as they give you a number.

I assume (ack - dangerous I know) that once you are approved, you are on the hook, so even if your closing is far far away, you are a DVC member. Therefor, the temporary card they send out with the sales packagge becomes your card until you receive your permenant one. If you need a temp card (because your temp card has expired or you purchased a resale), I was told to go to SSR sales center and they would print you one. Lucky for me, before my next trip, my perm card arrived.

Once you are a member, you are in the system and can order from the website. Provide this temp card to Guest Relations and *poof* you get an annual pass.

We had our temp cards and were able to use them in January right after we signed and before we were actually approved by DVD financing.

The temp card is da man!!

My ignorance, sorry. Having never done a resale, I didn't know that you could get your Member ID Number before you closed. So I guess it's safe to say that, once you have your Member # you can take advantage of DVC discounts on APs.

It can take a while. I bought into DVC the first week on Dec. and got the permanent card, I believe it was the last week of January.
