Can I get a witness?

I mailed out the greeting card swap this morning which was my LAST swap to finish and this is the first time in, oh, I don't know 6 months? (maybe more?) that I have not had a swap to work on. At first I had withdrawal symptoms you'd expect from a swapaholic - what would I possibly do with my free time now? ;) But I have made a decision. A HARD AND FAST decision and I need some witnesses to keep me honest.

I will not sign up for any more swaps until after the first of the year. (I think it's unlikely any will start until then anyway) (But here's the biggie) I will SCRAP. A LOT. Between now and Christmas I will see at least one project through to completion. I will make a significant dent in the backlog of photos I have accumulated. I will attempt to organize the disaster areas I have lurking among my scrapping supplies. I will start making my Christmas cards NOW rather than waiting until December 15 and realizing I have no time (like last year.) I will actually USE some of the swap items I have accumulated. (Gasp!) Basically, I will put as much time and energy into my own projects as I have been putting into swaps.

There they are - my "Halloween" Resolutions, so to speak. Do you think I can do it? I'm counting on you guys to check in with me in December and see how I did. If I didn't meet my goals I will not be allowed to join any more swaps until I do. ;)

This is my goal, too! We are finishing sorting the Holiday Swap, and I have the good vs. evil swap to assemble. Then, I am going to be a scrappin' little woman. No more swapping for me until at least the new year!

You can do it, N.E.E.!!! I'll check in with you if you check in with me! :cool1:

Ah yes, I have heard this before. I finished all my swaps, and swore them off until the end of the year. I totally reorganized my scrap space. I did about 20 pages. It was high school stuff, which made me sad that I hadn't kept in touch with people. But I got on Classmates.com late one night and have now reconnected with my oldest childhood friend...And then I angeled 2 groups for the Good & Evil swap, and am angeling in the ABC swap.

Well, good luck, the fall of the wagon hurts a bit (or maybe that was a hand cramp from cutting out tiki bird pieces), so it is best to avoid it. I plan on climbing back on after I get this stuff done this week, which should leave me the rest of November and December to scrap. Plus, with DH's bonus we are going to be buying a new monitor in about 2 weeks, which means I'll finally get around to editting the thousands of Disney pics I have. I have been avoiding them because our monitor is so bad it is hard to see what the pictures really look like.

I, too, have made the same pledge. Now if I could just stop angelling! But I digress. I want to get to a place where I don't need a shoe box to hold my pictures waiting for my book. I want to scrap the ones I get from Shutterfly, right away, when I'm excited and remember all of the details. That is my goal. I feel like we need to start Swapaholics Anonymous. :lmao: The first step is admitting you have a problem...

I'm with all of you! We'll check on each other.

As I've not yet been sracpping a year, all those old albums "eating" my photos are nagging at me to get a move on!

I'm right there with you. I have finished all my swaps that are due in November and December- I have a small one that is due in late January. I would also like to scrap for myself.
We are going to Disney for the kids first trip in December- it a surprise, so I'm going to spend my exrta time getting little surprised ready for them and DH.
On my list so far is scrap, make cards, make I Spy bags, stockings and make a candy village for the fire place area.
I'm going to miss swapping but I can take a break for a couple of months! DH will be glad he does not have to go to the Post Office as much....
Nancy, I'll check on you, if you will check on me.
S :)

Today was the first day of my new plan and I'm so proud of myself! I did 9 pages, which was enough to officially finish my 2004 WDW album! And each one of those pages used at least one swap element from my 'stash' - my first time actually using any of them!!

Way to go! I need to join SA as well. I really need to work on DCL 2004 album and finish it--all papers and pictures, etc are organized, just need to work on it! I go to a crop the 17th, so hope to get a lot done then. :sunny:

Oh, I am so understanding. In my former life (before swapping), I would return from a trip and begin working on my album immediately, sometimes the day of my return! I got back three weeks ago and my album from this last trip is not done. WHY? I had swaps to finish!

But there is hope, I just finished laying everything out, cropping the pictures, selecting the embellishments and generally getting ready to assemble. The great thing is all of the amazing swap stuff I found to use. All of the things I got from the very talented people on this board is going to make my book amazing...I better watch it or I will fall right back off that wagon! ;)

That is awesome! Hopefully, you will inspire me! Yesterday, I finally got my stuff organized! Now everything is in order, with the memorabilia that goes with it. I just have to do it! Thanks for getting me moving!

Mickster - way to go on the organization! That's huge! I just picked a spot and jumped in yesterday - organization is my next step.

KAMommy - as I was using the swap items I thought to myself, "Eventually I'll use all the items up, then I'll have to join more swaps to replace them." Scary!

I, too, plan to NOT swap anymore until I have:
1. finished my last four swaps :cheer2:
2. cleaned up my scraproom :thumbsup2
3. actually scrapped all of my backlogged stuff :rolleyes1
4. CLEANED MY HOUSE

Seriously, I found myself too busy swapping to ever get time to use the stuff that came back. I now have a huge wicker basket overflowing with things for me to use. How many Disney princess elements can one person use??? :confused3

Ok I have three more to finish. One will be done tonight and another this weekend. Then I will not SWAP until I have completley organized my new scrap room. I have this new great space the only has the items I've used put away. LOL I go to the extra bedroom where we moved all my supplies so I could get teh desk built and grab what I need and bring it to the loft. Then when I'm done I put it in the new location but I have tons still that I haven't needed for a swap and I want to clean out that other bedroom. LOL After that I will finish my new house book and then be ready for some new swaps in 2007. Shh don't tell anyone but I don't think I can resist.
