Can I get a straight answer, pretty please?

I'm curious as to when I can buy in to AKV. Seriously, I can't find an answer. I see plenty of threads about current owners buying in but, not when someone wants to buy in for the first time.

Pretty please, help with an answer.:flower3:

I am only guessing, but my suspicion is that it could possibly be several months. Assuming that the posts are correct as to how many points are being sold tomorrow, the initial allotment will sell out within hours (subject to approvals, etc.) and I suspect that there will be a waiting list of members whose desire to purchase point is not fulfilled tomorrow. I expect that they won't be able to put any more points on sale for a little while (for a variety of reasons) and that there will then be another window for the members who got shut out to buy in before it goes on sale to the general public. My guess, and it is ONLY a guess, is that it could be as late as May before they put things on sale to the general public depending on how fast things move. Hope for your sake that I am wrong, and I don't have any reliable information. I am just speculating using my instincts (which may or may not be good).

Hopefully you will know soon.

I may be wrong, but if I'm reading the official Member web page right, then DVC is accepting buyers as of today, 1FEB07. They have two offers-

1.) if you buy over 150pts- "be one of the limited number of Members honored on a special Village Tapestry."

2.) if you purchase over 100pts- "you can receive a credit of $8 per Vacation point."

Hopefully this helps

That's for current owners only! Since the owner specials go away on March 5, and the price then goes up to $104/point, I'm going to guess that's when the public can start buying, but I'm also going to guess that will be with NO points until it opens. Keep in mind this is just a guess though.

I got a thing in the mail that said members can buy in February 1st. Non-members will probably be somewhat behind that...maybe 4-6 weeks. This thing said that the first phases are looking to be opened Spring 2007.

You must have misread. They are hoping to open the first phase this FALL. They won't be open in the next three-four months.

Nope, Disney Doll did not misread. That is what it says. Clearly, it is an error. It should say to begin selling in Spring 2007 (or being making reservations in Spring 2007) because later in the pamphlet it says that Guests can begin staying on Sept. 1, 2007.

OP--I have seen April 1 as a puchase date for non-current members. I do not know if this is accurate or not, but my guess is that it would likely be around that time, give or take.

On the second page of the brochure, it says pre-opening sales begin on February 1, 2007.

And on the very back...the one with the zebra cut out, it says "Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas is not yet completed; it is still under construction - inital phases estimated to open Spring 2007."

Clearly an error.

I think there will be points. My feeling is the frenzy here is NOT indicative of the real world.

My guide told me yesterday that we could start making reservations April 4 and AKV (the part in the lodge) would be open for stays starting September 1st.

My guide told me the existing members' price is good until June (4?), not March (she did tell me March originally, but after her training was complete she told me June). Now that the booking dates have been pushed off, who knows if this date will change again, too?

My guess is it will not be opened to the public until at least May if not a little later.

As I understood one of Tony's posts, only people who own points at AKV can make reservations starting in April. Everyone else has to wait until early May. I can't remember if he said May 2 or 16.

ETA: Here's the thread where he mentions the dates when members can start making ressies. However, I just noticed this post where LisaS says the dates have been pushed back to May for AKV owners and June for everyone else. The Mousellaneous board seems to have the majority of the up-to-date info, so you might want to check there.

Exactly, and would you believe I actually thought that I made that point as well, but.....another senior moment. I gotta finish proof reading my posts before moving on.:confused3
