Can I get a Fast Pass for someone who isn't in the park?

Can I get a FP for my husband who will meet me in the park later in the day? I was planning on taking his room key and getting him FPs - then meeting him at the gate when he arrives.

Will the machine dispense the FP to me if he isn't in the park?

No, the ticket needs to have gone through the entrance turnstyle for it to work in the fastpass machine. You will get an invalid ticket error if you try to use it.

I think the only way this works is if he actually enters the park with his ticket so the system knows he's "there". Then he can leave without the ticket and you can get fastpasses with it. However, you'll have to meet him at the gate to give him his ticket so he can re-enter.

In other words, you can't get fastpasses with a ticket unless it has been scanned at the turnstyles.

Thanks. I guess that blows that plan. I hope if my daughter, mom and I get to the park at opening we can ride the rides with little wait so when he finally gets there he can just use one of our FPs to ride with my daughter.

Thanks! :)

His key needs to go threw the ticket slot at the gate, so he needs to enter the park with it so he could get a Fast Pass.

Thanks. I think we'll gather up FPs for him using our tickets, and just ride the rides without them until he gets there.

Just remember once you get Fast Passes on your tickets it will say you can not get a new one until a specific time later on. If the Fast Pass says come back between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM, it will say another Fast Pass will be available for you at 10:30 AM.

Yes, thanks. I go around collecting them at the time it says i am allowed to get another one.

You know, funny thing is I keep hearing how people are unable to get Fastpasses with cards that had not been swiped at the entrance to the park.

My brother just got back and told me that he would be at the park at RD, and go get faspasses for his wife and kids for rides with their passes. Now I think he had KTTW passes and he had to go back to the front of the park to give them the cards to get in, but still I asked him very specifically on it and he said he was able to do it. He mentioned doing that in epcot (soarin) and in AK (everest). And he really didn't have any reason to lie to me. hmmmmm

Of course, YMMV.

I've read that sometimes you can talk CMs at the front gate into scanning you family's tickets for you so you can get FPs.

Of course, aren't the KTTW cards linked? I mean, I've read about people being able to switch the cards assigned to their room and get through- even with the biometric scan. That the readings are all pooled. Maybe he was able to scan each card with his finger? Or once one of them were activated for the day, they all worked?

I don't know, just confused ramblings.

A year ago, we were headed to the Pirate/Princess Party. We had our tickets in our hands as we approached the turnstyles. The CM told us to just use those as park passes (it was about 5:30). Okay, no problem. Well, we got to Space Mt...I put my AP in the FP machine...it told me there was an error. So, I tried it again, and again, and again..okay, I am not a fast learner. Tried a different machine. Just could not figure out what the problem was. Went to the CM that was manning the area. She asked me what I used to get into the park....ah, not the AP (what a dunderhead I felt like!!). Put in my party ticket...no problem, FP came whipping right out. Duh!
You really need to have your park pass run through the turnstyle before you can get a FP.

DISCLAIMER: This is just a discussion of the technical aspects of disney tickets and I would in no way advocate doing such a thing.

I think the biometrics on disney tickets are linked when the tickets are purchased together in the same transaction. So if OP and her husband's tickets were purchased this way, I think they could switch tickets, and still get through the turnstiles. I haven't tested this myself but I believe disney does it because families will frequently get their tickets confused, and they don't want those situations holding up the turnstiles.

So, in theory, OP could enter once on her ticket, leave the park, re-enter on her husband's ticket, and both would be 'active'. Whether or not this is ethical isn't for me to say...

If the park ticket isn't scanned at the entrance you can't get a FP.

I had issues with my the biometrics and my AP a couple of times and instead of taking care of the problem the CM just let me in (it was pretty busy so I don't blame her). Unfortunately this meant that my AP wouldn't work in any of the FP machines. The first time I had trouble getting FP's the CM at Space Mnt asked me if there were issues at the gate and sent me to guest relations to have my AP scanned. After that I had no issues with FP's the remainder of the day.

Well....for our past two trips my kids and I have done this while my DH was golfing. The first time we put in his ticket and it didn't obviously issue us a fastpass. I had NO IDEA that his ticket had to go through the front gate. I just told the CM that for some reason his ticket wasn't working but everyone else's did?? I asked why??? He just gave me a fast pass ticket & didn't offer an explanation. After that I figured out the reason, but the next summer we tried it again and once again the CM just gave us a fastpass. I say it is worth a try for you!!!

I don't see why this would be unethical. I would just ask the CM on the way in if you can swipe your DH's card.

Because if it is ok for one person to do, it is ok for everyone. And just think how fast the fast-passes would be sold out if people who couldn't even bother coming to the parks were getting them. You think the wait time for Soarin is bad now, add a few hundred people to the fast-pass line.

Geeze, I can't even believe people think this is even remotely cool.:sad2: Just because a few CMs do something to be nice, does not mean it is a condoned practice. Or like every other thing people have found the way to abuse, this little help for people will be ended.

I don't think it is as big of a deal with the situation being discussed here but I think the policy is there for another reason. Getting fastpasses for people that will be there later is one thing but what about if you know other people with AP or any other still valid tickets. "Hey I'm going to WDW. Can I take along your tickets so I can get more FP's for my family?" If you know enough people you could really load up on FP's.

If there is a problem with the AP or park pass, there is a way for the CM to just bypass the machine and let you thru (which is apparently what happened to you since the FP machine didn't 'know' you were in the park). There is also a way for the CM to bypass the machine and indicate you did go into the park. If they do it that way, the computer 'knows' you are in the park and will let you get FP.

The CM can also give you a ticket that lets you get FP's if your regular ticket doesn't work. ºOº
