Can I get a b-day sticker if it is not the b-day?

I loved celebrating my birthday at DLR last September. My birthday is actually the end of August, but we couldn't go until Sept. (2 weeks later)

I only wore my birthday button one day, but had a cast member tell me I should have worn it every day since it was my birthday "trip". So proudly wear your birthday button even if it isn't your actual birthday and wear it for your whole trip. It was soooo fun to have people wish me happy birthday the whole day.

On our last trip (2 weeks ago :sad1:) I saw a cast member wearing a birthday button and wished him a happy birthday by name. It was so fun. I think he was a little surprised, but liked it anyway. ;)

Nine days until my birthday trip!!!!

I plan to wear my button the entire time! (and I'm 51--ok--I know I'm crazy . . . . )

I didn't know anything about the buttons until this thread, but I don't see any scam going on. From what you all have said, it's not like you are handed out freebies all day or anything, it's just nice people wishing you "Happy Birthday." I see nothing wrong with wearing the button on a day that is not your "actual" birthday, or wearing it for a week for that matter.

(That was my very first post here. I figured I had to just jump in somewhere.)

Sorry, I also wanted to ask a quick question. Where do you go to get the pins? We will be there shortly after DS's b-day next year and I would like to get him one.

So, are they currently pins/buttons or stickers? Two years ago they were stickers............:confused3

They are buttons and you can get them at a lot of places, but we got my DS's at City Hall. While you are there, if you mention that you are celebrating a birthday, they will give you a special phone and you can listen to a special birthday greeting from Goofy. When we went for my DS's birthday last May, we were planning on celebrating it on just one day, a few days after we arrived, but the CM heard me say that it was his birthday and gave him a button. He told him to wear it every day during our trip and to celebrate it every day! So, they are not only okay with this, but they encourage it. :)

If you are staying at one of the DLR hotels you can also get a birthday button when you check in at the front desk (in fact, they will usually (not always) leave a special treat in the room when they know a birthday is being celebrated . . . . . )

They don't ask for proof. So go ahead. We have all celebrated our birthdays at Disneyland. NONE of them have been on the day. With school/work that just wasn't possible.

My DD's B~day is July 3rd, we will never be at DLR on her B~day. I'm hoping for an early June trip next year, we'll pretend June 3rd is her B~day then ;)

My DD's birthday is July 4th!! And we were actually there last year, it wasn't too bad during the day, since it was on a Wednesday, but for the fireworks it was PACKED!! Probably won't do that again.

One cast member had the ENTIRE LINE at Autopia sing happy birthday two separate times to two little boys who were wearing birthday buttons. (And if you've ever waited in that queue, you know it's a long one, so imagine 200+ people singing Happy Birthday to you). It was a lot of fun and the smile on their faces made it worth it! I say if it's a trip to celebrate her birthday, then why not?
That is Disney magic! Love it! :thumbsup2

We planned our first trip ever to DL for April, which would have coincided with my younger son's 2nd birthday. We had to cancel that trip 2 days before we were to leave because my DH was hospitalized. :sad1:

Fortunately we were able to reschedule for the following September. I still wanted to acknowledge my DS's 2nd birthday, but that timeframe put us within a month of our older boy's 6th birthday, my DH's and my birthday, and our wedding anniversary as well. :lmao:

So we got a birthday button for DS2 to wear one day, and another one for DS6 to wear another day. We let each child choose a character meal to attend on "their" day, and had a great time.

Somebody complained that it wasn't right to do the birthday pin/celebration if it wasn't on your actual day, or within a few days, because now EVERYBODY is celebrating a birthday and it isn't special anymore.

I disagree. It is still special, at the very least to those celebrating the event. Yeah, it's a little odd going to Goofy's Kitchen and having nearly every table celebrating something, but the same thing happens at home when we go to Red Robin. There just are THAT many people having birthdays, and going out for a special meal for it.

We are planning a trip to Maui for next fall to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We honeymooned there, and can't wait to go back!

Even though the trip will probably not coincide with the exact date of our anniversary, the trip is in honor of it, so if asked, I am definitely going to mention it. :goodvibes

FWIW, I think that's more from the WDW contingent, since WDW does indeed give things out for b'days, such as cupcakes at dinner and such. Freebies seem to be given more freely at WDW, while you're much more likely to just get a Happy Birthday at DLR, and no one on these boards seems to mind much. :goodvibes

One person's celebration doesn't take away from another's, so even at WDW I just can't understand why people get weird about celebrations on a day other than THE day. (those poor Leap Year kids, lol)

Well, maybe it's different at WDW, but although I have seen quite a few "special" buttons I haven't seen an overwhelming abundance of "Happy Birthday" or "Happy Anniversary" buttons at DLR. Not so many that I feel like people are scamming the system.

Like I said, when I go for my birthday I'm wearing mine for all three days even though my birthday is the last day!
