I will be getting my points on a new contract about a week prior to spending a few days in Orlando. Since I will be at WDW for a few days by myself is it possible for Disney to find me a single room or a 1 bedroom for 2 or 3 days? Home resort is BCV but since this is just an unexpected trip I am not paticuliar which DVC resort I would stay at. Thanks Dennis

Did you buy resale or from DVC? If from DVC have your Guide get you a reservation. :thumbsup2

Yes, it is possible. Obviously this depends on the time of year and vacancy rates. All you can do is call, and not be too particular about where you want to stay.

Just to give you an example, we were at WDW in mid-February for a short visit. On the way home, our late afternoon flight was canceled and we were re-booked for the next day. So we called MS from the airport and got a room for that night.

It really depends... Our contract closed in April and we tried to get a few days for our May trip with no luck. We just called to try to get 3 days (Wed/Thu/Fri night) in late June and only 2 of the 3 days were available (Thu/Fri). We were looking for a studio anywhere. So, our luck hasn't been great with last minute so far. We will keep calling to try to get those 3 June days, but don't want to go if we can't get all of them.

Is there a way to exchange a reservation with another dvc member, or nonmember at the last minute, within say 24 to 48', rather than cancel it and forfeit the points; say if an unforeseen circumstance arise? Has this ever occurred? Does this board allow one to offer such a request to be made? Or if circumstances warrant, does DVC excuse the forfeiture and allow the points to go into Holding?

It seems to me that there is always room at SSR

Once the construction is completed and the release of new rooms to inventory is stopped, SSR will be much harder to book for last minute trips. SSR's availability has more to do with the construction than with the demand.

Last year we found ourselves arriving a day before we expected (the Friday after Thanksgiving). About 2 hours from WDW I called member services and was able to get a room at OKW for that night, however, the rep did say that it was the only room available in all of WDW including non DVC. Not sure if that info was true, but just to let you know extremely last minute is possible.

Thanks,
I thought that since it was only myself traveling there might be something small availiable during the week. I guess the worst case scenario is I can stay off property and pay the going rate.
Thanks for your help.
Dennis

Remember WDW Resort area on Priceline. Gaylord Palms ofen goes for around
$100 if you have to stay off-site.

Good luck! It's certianly possible, but also surprising sometimes when NOTHING is available.
Not sure why you're thinking it will be easier because it's "only myself". The studio or 1 BR that you're looking for is commonly booked by a group of 4 people, and studios are very much in demand. 1 BRs seems a bit more available because many prefer to save points and get a studio, and others with bigger groups need a 2 BR or larger.

Please let us know how you make out -- it's always helpful to hear about last minute bookings.

Yes, it is possible. We got a studio for one night at the BCV last October with around 24 hours notice.
