Going to MVMCP tonight November 8, 2011.

Looking to go to Wilderness Lodge for Lunch before hand and was wondeirng if I can park at Wilderness Lodge and use the Disney transportation to and from MK?

I'm only looking for information on if this is permissible or not. Not if it's the right thing to do or not, that's something I'll have to figure out later.

So is it doable or permissible? If not then that's fine and we'll park at the TTC and go from there.

Thanks,

No it is not. You should even see signs in the resort parking lots that say they are not for theme park parking.

You are allowed to park at a resort for an ADR for three hours.

You are not allowed to park all day at a resort to go to a park; the parking is meant for guests at the resort, or people who do want to visit the resort, but for a specific amount of time.

You can valet park at any resort all day, for $14.00 per day.

Thanks much for the information.

IT was just that the logistics of parking at the TTC and getting to DWL was a little cumbersome.

Looks like Valet parking could work as it's no differnt than the cost of parking at the TTC.

Really, parking at the TTC isn't any more complicated than parking at WL, when getting to the MK.

1) From the TTC: park in lot, take tram to TTC, get on boat or monorail, get off at MK

2) From WL: park in lot, walk through resort, walk to dock, get on boat, get off at MK.

It's not that it is any more or less complicated ... we were looking at having lunch at WL ... so it would be a matter of going from the TTC to WL and then to MK then to the TTC.

VS .... WL to MK to WL. Make sense?

My understanding is that in order to get to WL from TTC you would have to go to a park first. ....

SO it would be TTC - MK - WL - MK - TTC ... that was just a lot of bouncing around and we were looking at avoiding having to do that. No worries though.

Thanks for all the input and insights folks.

You said you want to eat lunch at WL before going to the MVMCP. So why not drive to WL, eat, then drive to the TTC?

Honestly, if you ask at the desk, THEY will probably tell you to just stay parked there. That happened to us when we ate at Chef Mickey's. Since reading here I knew that you would go to hell for even thinking about parking at a resort then going to a park, I was asking for directions to the TTC from there. They looked at me like I had three heads and asked why I didn't just stay parked there. I told them about the time limit and they laughed and said, "if you don't tell, we won't either". So, with their blessing, off to the MK we went.

I admit, I was afraid the lime green police were going to come whisk me away at any moment though. ;)

Valet is open 24 hours a day but I will tell you from experience it can be very slow after midnight. I had to wait almost an hour once at the WL to get my car out to make a midnight run to a drug store.

You know its not about going to hell and the remarks about the lime green police are kinda over the top, its about being polite to those staying there. If you were paying to stay at a certain resort and were shut out of the parking due to people who used it to go to a theme park, you would probably feel different.

It is not a pleasant experience. Obviously if Disney felt it was all right to do this there would be no signs stating not to and no parking lots at the MK for day guests.

I guess all the thousands that come could simply fill up the resort parking lots. Personally I think there will come a time at Disney if you are not a resort guest you will be asked to pay to park to dine, due to the abuse.

I guess this is only funny if you are not someone who has a room at the resort.:headache: I can testify to the fact that it is not fun driving around trying to find a parking spot at the resorts close to MK.

Well said Sammie. We have experienced the awfulness of not finding a parking spot when we've returned to our resort. It's horrible. The resort lots are small and can't accommodate a lot of extra traffic, especially at busy times of the year. It is all about people being courteous to those staying at the resort.

I had no intentions of "abusing" the rules. That is why I asked how to get back to TTC from there. Just stating that it isn't as big of a deal to them as it is to everyone here. They literally insisted that we stay parked there and didn't understand my hesitation. I even asked if we would be towed or ticketed or whatever it is they do for those that stay over the time limit and they laughed and said no.

Again, it is a big deal if you are staying at the resort. It sucks to not be able to find a parking spot when you are paying for a room at that resort.

Keep in mind too that what you encountered is not necessarily what another guest will encounter. So while it may not have been a big deal to the CMs that day, on a different day a different guest could well get a different response.

Agreed but you know a large part of "the blame" has to rest with WDW. It is 100% wrong for people to abuse the parking, but if WDW does not do anything to enforce their own rules then shame on them. I mean really, how many time have you ever seen a car being towed from a resort hotel lot because they were "illegally parked"? In my 50+ visits to WDW I have never seen this happen, except the one time my own car didn't start, and I had to be towed to the Car Care Center!

I totally agree that Disney is to blame. They make policy then do not enforce it so why even have the policy. Of course many, myself included will follow policy, because it is the right thing to do without having to be made to do it.

Others will not of course until made to do it. :sad2:

I have at times seen cars towed. I have also seen guests turned away at the gate unless they had an ADR or were resort guest during busy times.

I just think that with as many people there are daily at Disney World it makes the entire experience more pleasant for everyone if we are aware of how our actions affect others.

If I dine at a resort I move my car as soon as my dinner is over. Not because I was made to or even told to, but because it is the right thing to do.

If everyone decided to simply park at the resorts instead of that the parks it would be total chaos.

I guess with some it is more about them and less about others.
