I was just telling my dentist and his wife all about DVC. They had gone to Disney over Christmas with thier 7 month old baby, and she had a blast, so they have been but by the Disney Bug.

It was really hard to explain in the 5 minutes I had checking in for my appointment. I was thinking, so many of my friends want me to explain how DVC works, what if I hosted a "DVC night". Maybe even do it through the schools adult enrichment programs, and basically explain the points, how they work, and then hand out info on how to get in touch with a guide, if they understand it enough to want more detailed info. I, of course, would hand out my DVC referral cards...LOL.

Would I have to be a travel agent to give people information? I would not be selling the product, just explaining it, and referring them to someone who would sell them the product.

What do you think? Should I call my guide and see what she says?

I would call your guide and see what they say. Maybe you could have a few couples over for dinner and watch the DVC Sales video & go over the point charts. The guide may also give you examples of question that they would prefer you let their guide answer after they contact DVC.

I don't think there is any problem explaining the plan to folks, as long as your state isn't one of those that does not allow out of state timeshare sales. I'm not so sure I'd do this through an adult ed program though because of the commercial nature of it.

I don't see any problem offering DVC information to friends at all. I would be careful, as Diane suggested, about offering such commercial information in an adult educational setting (be sure to get approval for such a program in advance). There should be no issue with offering such info to friends though - and you should definitely have referral information available - especially if your state allows the rewards. (You can even send the referral info yourself for anyone you "educate"- just contact your guide with their names/addresses.)

As Chuck suggested, I would also contact your guide ahead of time for suggestions about topics to cover and your guide might even provide some DVC promotional info for your program in addition.

I've had much the same experience (in reverse from yours) in my dental office. I often find opportunities to share our excitement about DVC with my patients and have a photo album of our Disney trips and DVC resorts available for those interested. Since we live in a state that doesn't allow referral rewards, I don't worry too much about that, but I still send contact info to DVC and many have purchased DVC over the years.

Above all, enjoy sharing the magic! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 It is my second most favorite thing to do, next to being within the magic.

That is such a cool idea! A DVC info get together! Nice idea :thumbsup2

My guide called me back, and she said there is no problem. She is going to send me a few packets.

Now I have to plan it! :thumbsup2

We have done something similar with different groups of friends. I ordered the info packets from our guide and went through the whole spiel. Unfortunately, we don't live in a state that allows teh referal bonus, but I enjoyed doing it anyway.

OH WOW! She sent me a GORGEOUS hard cover color catalog. It has all the DVC resorts in it, plus the Adventure, conciege and passport collections with a getaway catalog. I even have a financing chart.

This is going to be easier than I thought! :cool1:
