I would like to take my DGS to WDW next month. Can I book something now for the end of July or does it have to be that i can book no closer that 4 months out? I find this so confusing.

You can book any DVC villa as long as you have the points to cover it and you can find a room. The rule of 4 only comes in to play when you are booking outside the DVC resorts.

In those cases, you can not book AND travel within that last 4 months of your UY. So even then, depending on your UY, you might still be okay.

You can book today. You can book 11 months from travel at your home resort (meaning you could book today for a vacation in May of 2012) and 4 months from travel at all other resorts (meaning you can book today for travel in October of 2011). Book soon, I hear July is a busy month!!

The only restriction would be holding account points, which are points from reservations cancelled less than 31 days before. They can only be booked 60 days ahead.

CORRECTION: You can book 7 month out at Non-Home DVC Resorts.
