Thanks everyone. Will look into ES as well as Marriott perhaps as an alternative to L'Enfant. I do like the idea of a complimentary breakfast. Especially since he have a Type I Diabetic in our party.

Also rethinking about renting a car vs driving my Toyota w/90k miles. Since I just got that thingy fixed on it that was causing my "check engine" light to come on.

Hershey Park is nice, but no where near a Disney. We used to live there and there are many other hotels to choose from. Use your "Disney" tips...like arriving early, before opening and you'll be ok.

That is too much to pay for a hotel in DC. Since you have three people I would use Hotwire and price it for two adults and one child. Try to hit DC on the weekend. Prices will be lower because you are not competing for rooms with the business travelers.

The most important key to saving money in DC is to have, if possible, 2 of your 4 nights be Fri and Sat. The weekend is much cheaper than the week. I just spent last weekend in DC at the Hyatt Arlington. It is walking distance to Georgetown and the Metro stop is 1/2 block from the hotel and about a 10 min. ride to most major attractions. I paid $100 a night, AAA rate. What made it even better is that Costco is currently selling Hyatt gift checks. 2 $50 gift checks for $80. I needed 2 rooms this past weekend so I bought $400 worth of gift checks for $320. DC's metro system is very clean and easy to navigate so don't hesitate to look outside of the heart of DC. It will definitely save you money without downgrading your experience.
