Can I convert a 2BR BWV ressie into a 1BR?

If I book a 2BR ressie at BWV, but then decide to cut down on the invite list and need only a 1BR, Can I do that w/o having to make a whole new ressie? Since BWV does not have dedicated 2BR, but a 1BR and studio joined, I'm thinking that it may be possible to just cut ouff the studio and keep the 1BR that I reserved, but maybe I'm wrong. If anyone knows please let me know.
Thanks.

I'm new too, but I'll bet that they will give you a whole new reservation. We bought an add on at VWL after we made our first ressie to Vero Beach. I wanted to be sure that the VWL points would be the one that are used because we'll need the 11 month window for Christmas plans at BWV. I thought it would be just a matter of noting the points, but no, it is a whole new ressie with the new date issued to me. I wondered if that means there was still room at VB, for the dates, or did they really just do a clerical thing.

If anyone knows more about the process, I'm interested too!

Specifically, would it have been possible for them to say, "no availability" because someone was on a wait list for my room.

Bobbi:confused:

What happens is that they cancel your old ressie and then you make a new. They do not modify the existing one. Sorry.

Would there be a problem if they did book a new ressie? Could that cause anything to change other than size of unit? Just wondering what the difference would be other than a new confirmation number.

I would say it would make the difference between the 3 categories there - SV, BW view and pool view.

I think the question here is would they simple drop off the studio, change the number and be done .. or could you be waitlisted for a 1 bdrm? Or lose the view/catagory you already had?

I guess if they are doing "room ready" vs. "who made the ressies first", the things like upper floor and other requests would be a moot point.. but standard vs. perfered at BWV would not. You would not want to lose this.

I thought I was heading to this exact situation for our next trip, but looks like everyone is going.

The problem would be if there are no 1 bedrooms available. If they cancel the 2 bedroom and there's a waitlist, it would go to the person on the waitlist. I believe they used to allow you to just drop the studio but no longer do that if there is a waitlist.

THe best way to do this is to book a studio and one bedroom seperaletly and request connecting. It is a few more points this way. When you know for sure, I was told they will convert it to a 2 bedroom and put the extra points back in your account. That was what I did when reserving last March. I will know for sure how it works in the next 30 days as my famiy gives me a definite yes or no

thanks for all the input. I think CoolDisneyCat explained my question much better than I. If its just considered a new ressie with a new number, thats fine. But, as others suggested, if my 2BR would be cancelled and I'd just get on line for a 1 BR, then thats a different story. I own at BWV and try and book one of the few standard view rooms for lesser points. I'd lose the 11 month advantage if my original ressie were cancelled, and I tried to book a 1BR with everyone else at 7 monnths or less. If I book a 1BR and studio connecting, that's a better idea but only if I could be assured that they'd convert it to a 2BR for the lesser points if thats what I go with.

Just don't forget about the banking windows, if you drop to a 1BR you will have "extra" points that you may need to bank, or extend you stay. Also you will want to do this more than 30 days before or those points will end up in a "holding account".

This is one of the areas where it depends on who you ask. In previous years (up until 3-4 years ago) they would just modify the existing reservation without cancelling if it was the appropriate unit type (lockoff). That changed though it is not always handled the same way by each CM.

Technically it would be a cancellation and a rebook. You would lose your room if the same type was not available at the time you made the change. The best two strategies are to book both then cancel the one you don't need 31 days or more before travel or to book them separately and ask they be connected (as noted above). As you get closer, if you definitely need the 2 BR, you could try to change it and save the few points. It makes sense for them to be more lenient with the option of changing from a studio PLUS a 1 BR to a 2 BR than allowing you to break off a portion of the room. The 11 month window no longer makes much difference for unit assignments at any of the resorts.
