Can I change a plane ticket?

I know,I know, non refundable/changeable means just that I have a nephew visiting,and his travel dates were changed (not in his control) the day after he booked a ticket home- He's on Delta, anyone know if there's anything at all I could do to help him with his ticket,other than just scrapping his current ticket and buying a new one? just thought I'd check with some of the gurus here before we went ahead and booked his new date.... TIA

CALL THE AIRLINE IMMEDIATELY. Most airlines give you a grace period and will offer a full refund. Some airlines a few hours, some give until midnight and I think others allow 24 hours.

Some airlines will allow you to change if you pay a change fee. Unfortunately, sometimes the fee is more than the value of the ticket.

That's one thing I like about Southwest. You can change as much as you want without fees. You do, however, need to pay the current fare, which can go up or down.

Delta's change fee is $150 plus any increase in fare.
