Can I change a cruise date after booking?

Thinking about a 7-day Caribbean Cruise, not sure exactly when we want to cruise, kind of waiting to see... BUT we wanted to put some money down so we can start paying towards PIF date.

Is there a way to change the cruise date prior to PIF?

And generally, when does Disney release new cruise schedules?

You would most probably pay a different price. You would pay what the price of what the new cruise is on the day you book the new cruise. Yes all money would transfer over. Keep in mind prices of Disney cruises tend to only go up, nailing down a date as soon as you can will get you the cheapest price on the cruise you actually go on

Yes, as long as you are not booked in Concierge (which have different rules) you can switch your cruise date without penalty if you do it before the PIF date. If you are changing dates, the PP is correct, the fare for your cruise would be the current price on the day you book that date, not the date you made the initial deposit.

As far as when DCL would release schedules, that's always a guessing game on here. Part of that depends on what time of year you are looking to cruise. The last few years, DCL has announced schedules in phases so the first part of 2018 (through about May) may be released in Fall 2016; then the rest of the year may be out in Spring 2017. But this is a rough guess, DCL keeps changing when they release schedules.

One thought, if you aren't sure when you will be cruising or are looking more for 2018 dates, have you considered opening a Disney Vacation Account? It was created to give you a way to pay for your Disney trips even before you book and you may be able to earn gift cards for extra savings on your cruise.

Thanks! I haven't heard of the Disney Vacation Club, or maybe I didn't know just what it was. I will have to look into that!

We are wanting to cruise in the Fall of next year, but possibly Spring 2018.

I have only cruise concierge once and did not change the dates, but I thought that even then you could change to a difference cruise (and even switch to non-concierge) if done before PIF. The main difference is that the deposit for a concierge reservation is that it is never refundable.

Yes, you can change dates/rooms, even with a Concierge booking. It's just that the deposit remains non-refundable, even if you "downgrade" to a non-Concierge room.

You can change it as many times as you want. You can cancel and get your money back if you want. You can transfer your deposit from that cruise to a discounted GT rate. You can do whatever you want until you reach the magical PIF date.

Fantastic! We have narrowed it down to the Western Caribbean Fantasy on either October 14th, 2017, October 28th, 2017 or November 11th, 2017... now just to get the deposit together!! Thanks everyone for your help!

Just as a suggestion, if you can swing it, I'd suggest putting a deposit down on both of those cruises. You have until the PIF date to cancel one and get your money back (unless you've booked a Concierge room). That way you're locked into the prices on the day you made the reservation, if you want to make any changes later.

It's pretty simple to change, too... you can do it yourself online.

...
Revision. Evidently things have changed since I last tried to change dates. Apologies. People are saying you have to call to do this now.

It is in fact one of the reasons I love DCL. I had to reluctantly cancel my cruise due to some issues and we decided not to push the date off but cancel (rough considering it was booked on a cruise so carried a 10% discount). Nonetheless, when we called DCL there were no questions, no discussion no begging me to stay or trying to talk me out of it. They asked if we had considered the options. We told them yes. They asked nothing else and refunded our money. 5 minute conversation.

Same thing when I have moved a date. They are easy to work with.

My Disney vacation account is my Disney Visa. :-) I put everything on there (groceries and gas are a must). Pays for most of our vacation. :-)

they make it really easy to use the Disney Rewards Dollars for booking a cruise. You just select gift card and type in the number. If you don't have enough, it deducts what you want and you can pay the rest on the visa.

We used to have Disney Visa also, but we have gone cash/check/debit only now... so no more "borrowing" money for us... it was too tempting to pile things on there and then not have enough to pay it off at the end of the month :(

Booked a cruise in early 2014 - had to move it to late 2014 - then to late 2015 - all due to issues out of our control. No problem whatsoever - had a blast being back on the Fantasy last Oct :)

No, you can no longer change the DATE of your cruise online. You can change your cabin but to change to an entirely different cruise date you have to call DCL.
