Can I Cancel DDP? (Please Read Details)

We booked our Disney package 2 months ago during the promotion for the free ticket upgrades to park hopper/water parks. With that in mind, can we cancel the dining plan portion of our reservation without losing our ticket upgrade? I know the code we used was a "dining plan" code and there was another code without the dining plan option. We've decided the DDP is simply more hassle than it's worth, and we'd really prefer to drop it from our reservations - I'm just wondering if they will give me trouble regarding cancelling, and what my options are. We're less than a month out from our trip, which may make a difference. Hopefully it won't, as we're not changing our hotel reservations, we simply want to drop the dining plan.

May I ask what you mean by "more hassle than it's worth"?

It's really very simple to use. I'm not sure about dropping it- you can call and ask to see if it's possible. Disney is typically very happy to take more money from you but I'm not sure how thrilled they'd be to refund $$ to you a month out from your arrival.

I just mean it's too much hassle trying to plan for TS meals, particularly since we just changed our entire itinerary, meaning the ADRs we had made are mostly no longer appropriate - and it's nearly impossible to make new ones right now.

I'm on hold trying one last time to make some reservations - we'll see what happens.

I think you should call and see what they say.

Since the promotion is over they might not be able to change it for you because with and without dining are two different codes. Also if they are able to change it they may charge you a fee for changing it after the 45 day mark.

I really think that the dining plan is great.

Even if you only eat at buffets, or eat a TS lunch you still get your money worth. In my opinion you dont stand to lose as long as you can get those ADR's.

I loved the plan but I only have a rough itinerary and we had park hoppers. I took breaks in the afternoon everyday and after my break I would just go to where ever my ADR's were.

I know the plan does not work for everyone but I think it works for most.

There will be a change fee involved for the package price being reduced, if it even can be at this point (as someone pointed out, the package codes were different and they are no longer in use).

There also might be a document re-issue fee involved.

I think at this point, taking the dining plan off would be more trouble - but you can certainly ask Disney to see what they can do.
