Can I bring wine to my hotel room?

Hi There!

DW and I are going on our first WDW vacation together (my fourth time and her first). We are staying for 5 days 4 nights in September at POP. I am by no means any kind of wealthy so budgeting is always a big part of vacationing for me.

I was wondering if I am allowed to bring outside wine/beer to my POP hotel room.

If so I was thinking about buying wine at the Alpha Duty Free Store at the Orlando airport. Can you buy from them and walk out of the airport with your wine? I keep reading about you having to take a ticket and then having them deliver it to your gate. I of course would not be flying at that point and would just need to leave with the wine. Input?

I will also be arriving before check-in. Do you know if guest services at POP would hold wine for me?

Thank you everybody for your help! I can't wait for our vay-cay!

i am not sure about the duty free shop, but i know you can have wine/beer at POP. (they even sell beer at the food court, not sure about wine) you can also have them hold any/all of your luggage(which can include your wine) when you check in, if your room is not ready.

Yes, you can bring wine to your room and bell services will hold it for you if your room is not ready when you check in.

You will not be able to buy wine at the duty free shop at the airport. Duty free shopping is only available to people flying out of the country.
The supermarkets in Florida sell wine as do the resort gift shops.

This person is correct. Also note, there is wine available for sale by the bottle in France and Germany and I presume other countries as well at EPCOT. It is higher in price than buying it at Wegmans, but about the same as the wine specialty shop near me. There is no Wegmans in Florida so don't get excited! ;)

The Beer for instance, sold at the Pop Century cafeteria is I think almost $2 a bottle, whereas you can go over to the local mini mart and buy a whole six pack for just a few dollars more. If you're coming into the airport, I will assume you don't have a car with you. You can take the bus to DTD and then walk to several local places, I think HESS too... that has it for way less. Disney doesn't care what food or wine you bring into your rooms.

I assume you won't have a car so the best place to get wine and beer on a budget would be the Hess garage jusst opposite downtown Disney. Just take a bus from the hotel to downtown, walk across the road to Hess garage and then get a bus back to the hotel. I usually take an empty rollercase with me to carry it easily

I bought a small bottle of wine in a CS restaurant. It contained one glass and was $$7,50.

I have actually packed wine in my checked luggage and brought it with me. Also Vodka, Baileys and other spirits. Much cheaper than purchasing locally.

Disney does sell wine, beer and other spirits in their gift shops. Its not too bad. Animal Kingdom Lodge gift shop and The General Store at The Boardwalk sell some really nice wines. I have bought wines in France and Italy. The Hess Gas Station across from dtd does sell wine, but its not so good.

Yes, you can bring "outside" alcohol into any Disney resort room. My husband routinely takes a 30 pack of beer across resort lobbies, up the elevators, across parking lots, etc. And I used to travel everywhere with a 5 liter box of wine. Our tastes are simple and our budget low. Never a problem at Disney World. Just don't attempt to take the alcohol into any parks and you'll be fine.

In addition to France and Germany, there is a wine shop in Italy in Epcot.

You can bring anything you want into your room with you, but as noted you will not be able to buy liquor or wine in the duty free shop at the airport, that is only available to international travelers.

You can arrange a taxi run to a liquor store or supermarket if you do not like what is available at the Disney resorts and you don't have a car. The above poster is correct that you can get some wines for a decent price (though still marked up a bit) at the shops at Epcot. If you're there during the food and wine festival, the festival center will have a wine shop.

No problem bringing beer, wine, etc. When we drive we roll our cooler in filled. No car this year. I will be bringing a bit of spirits (Coconut Rum & Vanilla Vodka ;)) bubble wrapped along for the plane ride. :thumbsup2. We'll find some beer locally.

If you buy wine in Epcot it has to be sent back to your room. You can pick it up at the store of your hotel. You are not allowed to carry it around in the park

Take a Disney bus to DTD Market Place and go up Hotel Plaza Blvd to Rt. 535. Go across Rt. 535. There is a Goodings Grocery store there. They have wine & beer. Take a small rolling suitcase or a backpack to get the stuff back to your hotel. The choices & prices aren't as good as the liquor stores, but are better than the prices on Disney property.

Japan in EPCOT also has some wines way in the back.

I'm sure many know this already, but you can get bags (at many wine stores) to put your wine and other bottles in that will not leak if there's a problem with the bottle. Don't be like a friend of mine who packed his expensive scotch into his checked bag and got to his destination with a broken bottle and all his clothes smelling like a distillery!:rotfl2:

This policy must have changed. We purchased both wine and sake and were allowed to carry it with us. This was on Thursday.

This is absolutely not true. I have carried many a bottle back to my room many times. Last time was this past May. Unless the policy has changed in the last two weeks this is just not the case.

At the EPCOT Germany pavilion, they have (or they did before) a delicious German spiced wine called Nurnberger Gluhwein. Both U's have umlauts, I just don't know how to make one on the keyboard. Its very good warmed. This is ideal if you're visiting Disney for the winter holidays, when its cool (or downright chilly) in the evening. Yum! :drinking1

You cannot have wine send back to your resort due to underage drinking and sonething that I was to by the CSM in France. You can buy it and pick it up late are the main gate area until you leave so you don't have to carry it around the park with you. Also bottle beer is about $4 per bottle. I like to have fell out when she told me the price.

I have packed a bottle of Vodka in my suitcase, You can find some in plastic bottles, and I put it in a plastic bag just in case. I have bought wine at WDW in the resort store. It may be a little more pricy then Goddings at Cross Roads Plaza, but it's a long walk from DTD to Goodings. Esp. if you are going in the hot months.
