I have a tiny cooler/fridge type thing that's about a quarter the size of the fridges they had that are being removed/recalled. Is it allowable for me to bring my plug in cooler/fridge?

Also, I have brought my four cup coffee maker before because I like my coffee exactly my brand, my way. Coffee is very important to me... plus the flavored liquid creamer.

Just making sure these are allowable. I would have just used their fridge but since there won't be one this is better than running to the ice machine and stocking a cooler.

Thanks!

I've known plenty of people who have brought their own coffee maker or Keurig with them. I'd call ahead and ask about both though, especially the mini fridge!

You cannot call the resort directly; if you call you will reach the Central Reservation Office and depending on how well they are trained, whether or not they will say yes or no.

It should be noted that if you do bring an electrical appliance, if a fire does start and it is found that your electrical appliance started it in the resort, you could be held liable for that particular incident. Disney cannot verify whether your appliances are either up to code or in working order.

If you plug the appliance into an outlet that does not support the load on the appliance or if you leave it plugged in during the time when you are out of the room and housekeeping notes you have appliances in the room that are not provided by Disney, it could also be a problem.

While a coffee pot is a small item that can be unplugged while you are out of the room, the fridge would need to stay plugged in and I would not take that chance.

I understand people are upset right now that the fridges are in the process of being replaced and not guaranteed if you will have one in your room - I would personally not take that chance.

I bring my own 4 cup coffee maker ever since Disney switched to those pod coffee makers. Never had an issue. :)

Before the values had resort provided mini fridges, we brought our own. We just had a luggage carrier and wheeled it front into our room and a couple of Cast Members saw us and said nothing. Neither did housekeeping and we were there for a full week. And my mother-in-law will not travel without her own coffee maker so she used that quite often at Disney World, trust me.

Just have both in a safe place without cords running all over the place. I would unplug the coffee maker when you aren't in the room, though.

I really want my little toaster so I can toast bagels in the room LOL It's Mickey Mouse, does that make it ok? :)

I have a small freezer (not fridge) which is the size of those dorm fridges (cube type) which I brought to WDW in April. I stayed at POFQ and used bell services to help unload my car including the freezer. Had it plugged in for our four day stay. Kept frozen water bottles, ice cream and freezer packs in it. No problem with either bell services or mousekeeping.

Actually, all of the resorts can be reached directly. You only get the call center if you hit the front desk button from your resort phone. A quick google search will turn up direct lines for each Disney resort. I know this simply because I have had to call several resorts in the past due to leaving things behind and the CM that answered the phone was the one that met me at the front desk with said missing belonging.

As to having appliances not provided by Disney- It most likely will not be a problem. Before mini fridges were standard in the Values, there were mini-fridge swaps that you could sign up for. The fridge was held by bell services between guests, and even brought up to the rooms and plugged in by the bellhop.

Yup, Disney was a willing participant in the fridge swaps. I never participated because I could bring my own on a luggage carrier. That said, I highly doubt that it is okay to bring any "open coil" appliances, just like you can't have them in dorms. That would be toasters, hot plates, etc.

Thanks for all the replies! :goodvibes

My mini cooler is really tiny and has only two prongs. It can probably hold quart sized milk and about 5-6 waters. My parents have used it at their 1940's home and my brother has used it in his 2006 apartment. It doesn't seem to be very exotic in terms of electrical set-up. I could probably even only have it plugged in when we're in the room if that's a concern. It's kind of a travel cooler.

Good to hear the coffee maker should be fine. I never leave it plugged in when I'm away or sleeping, even at home. It's one of the automatic things I do. Once the coffee is done, I unplug it. :thumbsup2 I only drink morning coffee.

They have toasters you can use at the food court tho! I used them one yr to toast bagels from home!
