Can I book a cash ressie with DVC for a family friend.....

Supposedly the DVC Member must be staying in the room......

But like 5 in a 1 Bedroom, Da Rules aren't being followed very closely, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, if you get what I'm 'saying' here!

However, to check in on the cash reservation Disney is going to want to see your ID. So if YOUR name is on the reservation and you aren't there..... no amount of wink, wink will get past that.

A long time ago when I rented (only once or twice, of course).

MS offered me the discounted member cash rate. I had already booked these ressies as rentals, and reminded the Advisor I would *NOT* be there for the trip.

Both Renters got the discount, on their credit cards. Once as recently as December 2006.

(Point nights were not available, wiatlist never came in).

No winking, nudging or even $20 dollar bills needed.

Another case of Da Rules not being enforced.

I booked a cash discount reservation for my parents and didn't have any problem. They know the 2 people who are going to be in the room and neither of them are myself or my hubby.

Ya know, this is just another instance of where Member benefits have been identified and non-members want to get them without being members. Or members want to give them away for a cash amount. Unless the member is paying for the room, there should not be a member discount. Unless the member is staying in the room, there should not be discount.

Then it sounds fine to me. I don't really care either way, it just sounded like some folks were saying you could book in the owners name to get the discount and then let your friends/family use the reservation and that sounded like it was going to be a problem to me.

I totally agree with this statement.

However, when the Advisor (who was told this was a Rental Ressie, as required in the POS), said, "I have a member discount rate of..."

And I replied, "But they are not the Owners I am, and I will not be there!"

And MS responded, "That's not a problem."

I decided not to fight cityhall. I wasn't goling to refuse what was offered, as I felt I did my best to identify they were not eligible (according to my understanding of the POS).
I wasn't going to complain about the Advisor, she was pleasant and nice, I didn't want her reprimanded.
I didn't cancel the rental, since the point night wasn't available.

So I guess in some Owner's eyes that makes me a hypocrite for taking something that wasn't supposed to be given.

But I tried (enough for me) and went on.

But I do totally agree with Deb & Bill's post, this shouldn't have been given.

Another OT point. Once in a check-out line a cashier gave me too much change. I tried to give it back. I guess she felt it was an honor thing, she wasn't taking it back. We disgussed then debated for 7 minutes in the check-out line. I kept saying, "I'm trying to give you money! I don't want money!"

When it got heated, I just said, "Okay your right" and bought dinner for my family on her error. It just wasn't worth it, to force, "The right thing!"
