Hi. I have been a DISer for a lot of years, and have seen the WISH sigs. Can I join in? I want to lose 75 lb. I really need to lose more, but that number is too high to comprehend.

About 4 years ago, I lost a bunch of weight. Did well, and got down from an 18, to a 12 (10 on a good day), but have since gained it back, plus a little extra.

The other evening- It hit me that I could hardly walk up the hill to my DD's school. NOT GOOD.

I'm going to Cancun, in 2 months. I know better than to think I'll lose a ton before then, but any bit helps. I'm quite nervous about going to a beach resort, looking like I do.

Started this morning. I have done well today, and have get things pretty low in fat. It seems that is what helps me lose the easiest. Watching my fat, and keeping it below 30 grams/day, meat only 1x/day, and red meat 2x/week.

And there is the exercise. Right now, our gym hours, are the hours I work, so it does me no good. DD wants to do the dance revolution game, and that can't hurt. I have friends that swear by it. Hoping to get out walking more too.

Any tips or suggestions?

:welcome: to WISH!!! Glad you want to be a winning "loser" with us!! Consistency is the key-just stay with your WOE/plan and it will work for you. Everyone here is doing something different-I do Weight Watchers (as do a number of other WISHers) some do Jenny Craig, South Beach etc. Find a plan that you can stick to and keep doing it. The exercise for me is critical-I get up early (5:30am) to run before my DD gets up for camp/school. It is the only time I have. You will find everyone here to be encouraging and helpful, so don't be afraid to post up!!

Good luck on your quest for better health!!

Thanks for the good wishes. Day #2, went pretty well. Actually better than I thought it would.

Another big WISH :welcome: -- the more the merrier I always say!! Glad to have you here.

I recently read the following somewhere and I think it is excellent advice:

"One step at a time...that's how we climb a mountain. Looking back at how far we've come and not paying any attention to how far we have to go. That's how we get to the top...and what an incredibly, wonderful experience that is. Same thing with our weight loss. If we could just be patient and persistent, then we will persevere and succeed. Let's make a commitment to take it one step at a time. Remember, to look back and see how far you've come, but don't look forward to see how far you need to go. Pay attention to all of the wonderful changes you''re making, these all add up and bring us closer to success. And how long will it take us to get to goal...AS LONG AS IT TAKES!!!!!"

Don't look at it as losing 75 pounds, look at is in small steps, maybe 5 pounds at a time. Every time you lose 5 pounds celebrate that success and then work on the next 5 pounds until you are where you want to be. Slow and steady wins the race!!!

Good luck on your journey, we look forward to sharing it with you.

another hearty :welcome: to the WISH board!! you have found just the best place to share in your journey to a healthier you!! your children need you around for a very long time and you have taken the first step to give them just that!!

there is a link in my signature if you have any questions about WISH -- also, put in the WISH member clippie to your signature! they are found at the very bottom of the 'smiley' section. it's fun and motivating to change that bad boy every 5 lbs!!

this is a great time to jump in as soon you'll see September monthly challenge threads -- these are simply groups of WISHers encouraging and keeping each other accountable as they work towards their goal (Lose 5 for September or September exercsie challenge) Feel free to jump in or start your own if there is another tactic you'd like to try!
