Can I bank points transferred to myself?

I just found out that a recent contract I purchased had 2006 banked points (what a nice surprise, but why didn't that OTHER broker tell me!). I have two different Member ID's as they are different use years. Can I transfer pts. from the 2006 banked that must be used to my other ownership? Can transferred points than be banked into the next year?

You can give them away at a garage sale if you like. They are yours to do with them what you want (except bank them).

To answer your general question, your 2 contracts are essentially different people. DVC will be MORE flexible at times with multiple contracts of a single owner. Currently it does give you some additional flexibility if you transfer points that are current use year but not bankable such as in the new 120 day rule.

Transferred points retain their original resort and use year. So if you had 100 SSR March 2007 points and transferred them to your OKW June 2007 use year, they remain as SSR March 2007 points.

So confusing!
My question is Can I transfer one of my contracts with 07 points into another contract with a different use year for 08??

I haven't banked my 07 points yet.
Am I making sense??

This is what I've learned......If one has two separate contracts, you can transfer current use year points that have not been previously banked, into your other contract. You can than bank those points transferred into that other contract or use them in the current year. Once this is done, you have used your one time only transfer for the year. Also, you can't transfer any banked points. So if you have current use year points that have been previously banked, you must use them, rent them, have a garage sale with them, or lose them. There is definitely an unwritten science to it all!!

I think your Oct 07 points would be put into your Aug 07 points. You could bank them after you got them into Aug 08.

Technically if you transfer your Oct 07 points, they go over to the other contract, but remain as Oct 07 points. They do not convert to Aug 07 points.

If you transferred and then banked them, they would become Oct 08 points, not Aug 08 points.

In the past there have been some glitches in the DVC computers that did morph points from one use year month to a different one. My understanding is that for the most part they have fixed that glitch.

Since you want to combine them to make your reservation, my guess is that it's irrelevant whether they become Oct 08 points or Aug 08 points, assuming the reservation you want to make is sometime between Oct 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009 which is the overlap period for the two sets of points.

As I recently discovered when I rented some points from another DVC member to help some friends go to SSR for a few days in October.

The points I rented were March UY from another resort. I have October SSR UY. The points were transferred in my account in late August. The visit to SSR was beginning October 1. MS had to do a manual override to make sure the points would be available for the October 1 check-in, as they would otherwise expire the previous day.

I specifically asked if the problem was that the points became October SSR points and the MS representative confirmed that.

So, apparently, point morphing is alive and well at DVC.
