Can guests be in the parades?

I have heard that a family is chosen to be in the parades.

Is this true?

If so who chooses & how?

I believe a family gets chosen each day to participate in the parade at AK, and a family gets chosen each morning to help "open" the MK. There are lots of references to both on the DIS, including first-hand accounts from participating families and how they were chosen.

When we were chosen to be Grand Marshals for the aftn parade in the MK it was a random, right place at the right time kind of thing. I think they purposely keep it on the down low.

My husband and I were picked in 2001 on our honeymoon for the AK parade. We did have our bride and groom ears on so I am sure that is why. We had 2 gentlemen stop us and ask if we would like to be in the parade. They were a little more dressy than a normal cast member. It was first thing in the morning as we were headed to the safari ride. It was something I will never forget we had so much fun. We were on the last float of the parade with the mouse himself. As we were leaving the backstage area on the float a cast member took our picture with a disposable camera and then gave us the camera to keep. Im not sure how they pick families but good luck and have fun.

My 3 children were chosen to take part in the Magical Moments(? think that's what it was called) but thta was osme few years ago. They were chosen at random by a CM whole we were waiting and were given a sticker to wear so that the CMs could tell they were supposed to be there when the parade arrived. They were part of the Beauty & the Beast bit if the parade, dancing along with the song, Be Our Guest.

One of my mom's friend's family got picked to be in a parade while they were there, I think it's random be in the right place at the right time but I'm not sure.

My cousin and her niece were picked to be on Goofy's float in the AK parade last December. She said they were just standing in line waiting to see Minnie at Camp Minnie Mickey and they were approached by a CM. They loved it!
