can DVC member pool-hop anymore??\

Our disney vacation club timeshare is at the Boardwalk............we always take a day at walk over to the Beach Club and swim for a change of pace ..................we were told not too long ago, that since the new timeshares opened at the beach club, that we as DVC members could not swim anymore because the pool is too crowded.........anyone hear that as well??????????

when the BCV opens SALB was taken out of pool-hopping - everything else (except AKL which was never in pool-hopping to begin with) is still available.

You can stay at BCV with your BWV points and then use SALB. they is the only way at present to use this pool. (will you could also your points for a stay at the YC - but BCV is cheaper point wise)

The previous post is correct.

You can pool-hop just about anywhere you want at Disney, with the exception of Storm-Along-Bay and the pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you want to use those facilities, you have to be actually staying there. My home resort is Beach Club Villas, but since I am staying at Old Key West this year, I can not use SAB.

There are certain dates you can not pool-hop anywhere, usually around holidays like the 4th of July and Labor Day. Hope this helps you.

We just got back from BCV and I can confirm the other posts. When you arrive at the pool you need to show your room card to one of the pool attendants who will then give you a wristband showing you "belong" at Stormalong Bay. We saw more than one unhappy family packing up their belongings after being asked to leave the pool area because they were not staying at YC, BC or BCV.

The attendants must have some way of telling where you are staying from your room key, because we didn't see anything on ours that indicated where we were staying. Maybe you can just show your card and see what happens.

SAB is worth the effort if you can get in!!

Ever see the "numbers" on the room key? Those numbers are "Coded" for each resort. That is how the lifeguards can tell if you belong at SAB or not

I do not recommend this approach. Your vacation experience is special, why tarnish it by being evicted from SAB. There are plenty of other enjoyable pools to visit as a part of our DVC pool hopping priviledge.

At vero, the resort has problems with local residents crashing the pool. The same has been observed at HH.

I think if DVC had to do it over again they would not offer pool hopping as a perk. The pool at BC has become over-crowded with just guests that are staying there. It is a great pool.

I didn't mention the evil part of me which took pleasure at the sight of the pool attendants doing their job.

We were at the SAB pools every day and they did not seem too overly crowed last week. It is early in the season, however, so our experience may not be the norm.

I heard it is ok as long as you are able to sneak in and don't get caught. The real way to fit in, I am told, is to place towels on many lounge chairs and than walk away.

....And then be indignant and make a big scene when you are caught without the proper wrist band, complaining that it's all about you..... pretending that you didn't know about the SAB restrictions when you really knew all along.... disrupting other resort guests' vacation experiences as much as possible, being rude to the CM just trying to do his/her job.... after all, it's all about you....

Well our family won't even give it a try. It is our kids favorite pool and we really enjoy our time there but its not worth the disapointment to go there and then try to explain to the kids why they are not welcome at a Disney pool.

My suggestion to Disney is if one pool is so popular that it becomes over loaded with people, then pool hopping should be discontinued. If my points at BWV can't get me a day at the Beach club pool, then I would perfer that only those staying at the Boardwalk be allowed to use our pool. This is selfish I guess but if we don't enjoy our trip because we couldn't use the Beach club pool, then next time we'll use our points to stay there.

OKW which is the orginially DVC resort does not have slides - so DVC came up with pool-hopping.

the WDW resorts must agree to pool-hopping - kept in mind that DVC does not own any resort that is not a DVC resort - the BC/YC is not - BCV was added to the resorts with the permission of BC/YC - then the BC/YC decided to do away with pool-hopping to any guests not staying at the BC/YC/BCV - don't blame DVC they tried their best to kept this benefit but the WDW resort has the final say.

Interesting. I didn't realize that pool hopping started due to a lack of slides at OKW pools.

The comments and concerns raised in these threads offer an interesting and insightful commentary on each of us a human beings. When we bought into BCV over a year ago we were informed about the pool hoping rules. I can't say that's true for everyone but I have to believe that most people are aware that you can't use SAB unless you are at BCV, YC, or BC. Yet, people tend to go on and on and whipping themselves up over it. With so many wonderful things about WDW and each DVC location I just can't see what all the fuss is about. SAB is a really nice and unusual pool but it is after all just a swimming pool. I'm glad to see all the passionate discourse because it makes for very interesting reading.

When we bought OKW in '97 we were informed also about pool hopping. We were going to just love trying out SAB. The best pool in WDW. Just the best,you've got to try it. And pool hopping was something only DVC members could do.

Glad I own at BCV now. They were right. SAB is a great pool.

I hope they don't restrict my BWV pool unless it is getting crowded...I don't want to have to show my card and wear a wristband if there is really no major demand on the pool..that is just an extra hassle that I don't need on a vacation...we generally go when it is not peak season --so crowding at the pools has not ever affected us...
