All pool hopping has been suspended during the re-opening period. There is no word as to when or if it will be reinstated. Pool hopping has become more and more restricted as time has gone on and very few pools were actually eligible. The following is from the DVC website:Don't want to get bashed here, but if staying at Poly in a DVC, can we use the pools at GF or BLT? Poly pool will get too small after awhile and not that interested in their quiet pool. Thanks.
If/when they open pool hopping for DVC members back up it’s hard to predict whether the restricted list will stay the same, after all it wasn’t that long ago that AKL/V’s pools were off limits. As a related, follow up question: what are people's top 2 or 3 pools that you *can* hop to? (when/if it restarts)
Animal Kingdom Lodge Samawati Springs, maybe?
This! However, Saratoga Springs have some pretty awesome pools! Our favorite however is probably Paddock Pool and water play area . It’s hardly ever crowded like the main feature pool in the front.If/when they open pool hopping for DVC members back up it’s hard to predict whether the restricted list will stay the same, after all it wasn’t that long ago that AKL/V’s pools were off limits.
short answer - No. DVC "guests" are just that "guests" of that particular resort on rented/gifted points. DVC "MEMBERS" staying on points are allowed to pool hop to certain but not all DVC pools but right now there is no "pool hopping" allowed. I am not saying it is not done but it is not allowed.Don't want to get bashed here, but if staying at Poly in a DVC, can we use the pools at GF or BLT? Good point. I just assumed that the OP is a member. There is no pool hopping permitted for renters, guests of members who are not staying with the member, RCI trades into DVC or guests staying on cash thru Disney.short answer - No. DVC "guests" are just that "guests" of that particular resort on rented/gifted points. Have fun on your trip.
I don't believe that page was ever updated to show park hopping being suspended....it was on the page about the reopening of resorts. I don't really know the current policy because I have zero interest in hopping but there hasn't been any sort of official notice that I'm aware of stating that hopping has returned. Is pool hopping currently suspended?
On the DVC page about it: https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/discounts-perks-offers/recreation-relaxation/pools/ nothing is mentioned about it being suspended.
The blackout dates have not been updated, however.
We've only hopped once. We were staying in Riviera and hopped to check out the main CBR pool. We could walk there, so it made the usual "pain" of pool hopping a bit easier.
Pool hopping is not available at the following pools at any time—with no exceptions to this policy:
- Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort – Bay Cove Pool
- Disney's Art of Animation Resort – pools
- Disney’s Beach Club Villas – leisure pool
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – pools
- Disney's Polynesian Village Resort – The Lava Pool and leisure pool
- Disney's Riviera Resort - Riviera Pool and Beau Soleil Pool
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – Boulder Ridge Cove Pool and The Copper Creek Springs Pool
- Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort – Stormalong Bay

I’m trying to plan our Animal Kingdom day. It’s only open until 7pm, so hopping back to GF to swim and nap and come back doesn’t make a lot of sense, but lunching at Sanaa, dipping in th pool at my home resort and then back to the park sort of does. Do they check magic bands at the Jambo or Kidani pool?

No.
Maybe?
If pool hopping is reinstated to its former incarnation, you will be allowed to use the pools at AKV even though you are staying at VGF.
While they might be gated, my experience is that most are broken and you don’t need a MB to gain access. My experience VGF, Poly, BWV, SSR, OKW no band needed. BLT yes, BCV I think you need a special band, non MB.Most pools are gated and you need a MB coded for that resort to get in. Pool hopping is currently suspended so you may not use other DVC pools at the moment.
And as a reminder to everyone, we do not allow posts that suggest ways to violate Disney rules.
