Can cell phones survive a dip in the pool?

I dropped a Motorola in the toliet. (Don't ask! LOL!) It did not recover.

My SIL dropped her Nokia down the toilet (before flushing!!) After fishing it out with a net for the fish tank and wiping it clean it still didn't work!! She got a new one though through her insurance.

BTW, she had the phone in her trouser pocket and it fell out when she pulled her trousers back up.[/QUOTE]

I had the EXACT thing happen to me. DH wanted me to try and dry it and use it again. I told him that even if it worked perfectly it was NEVER going up against my face again. I didn't have insurance so had to spend $300 to replace it. Had only gotten it a month earlier.

Might also add that a beeper given to you by one of the kids clubs on the wdw magic will definetely not survive a dip in the pool. Don't ask my dh about this one.;)

The cell phone lived. All of the features, etc. I can't believe it but I am very happy!

I once drowned a cell phone with Sublime (Malt Beverage...). I called my cell phone guy who was very good at making sure that AT&T gave me lots of stuff for free, and he told me to put it in the oven!! On the lowest temperature wrapped, each piece individually, in towels for five minutes. He said that would dry it up so there would be no sign of water damage and I could call AT&T Service Dept. and let them know "for some unknown reason" my phone stopped working. I did!! I called them, they sent me a new phone along with a box to send my phone back (postage paid), and they called and let me know that they couldn't figure out what was wrong iwth it, either, and just to keep the new phone! YAY! Any questions about the process, let me know!

My DD got drool all over my cell phone, and it did not work right after that. I bought the replacement plan for $5 and had to wait 30 days for the service to be effective, as was the policy. But I got my phone replaced without paying anything extra and they did not hassle me as to why or how the phone got damaged. They said water damage cannot be fixed, and although your phone might seem like it works well for a few days after, it'll eventually stop functioning correctly.

I know some who have cheated to get a phone replaced and stuck their phone in the microwave for 5 seconds... I mean i know no one is made of money and it can be costly to replace a phone, but i could not do something dishonest like that. Just my humble opinion!

I accidently put a bottle of water in my purse w/o the top on tight enough.

I had a nokia phone (one of those really tiny ones.)

I took the battery out, let everything air dry...was still useless.

OMG!!!!!!! ME TOO!!!! I also had the Nokia as well as a $450 digital camera in my purse too. YEP! All gone!

Not that much water even came out. A slight mist breezed off the bottle and ruined everything!

The top on the bottle was super tight, I always make sure (stupid Aquafina. I never buy that stuff, but I was at a store and it only had that, so I bought it. I have never bought that stuff again.)

I carried water with me everywhere for years, but since the *gulp* accident, no more. :guilty:
