Can Canadians do the ING online banking?

Has anyoune here tried this ING thing. I am hearing that you get $25 just for signing up then another $10 for each person you refer. Just wondering if it is another American only thing.

Here in canada it is 13.00 for each party. The website is www.ingdirect.ca . I was referred, but the offer said that it ended on December 31, 2004. They might have started a new one though.

I called ING to ask them, and she told me that due to our Ontario laws re: paying people for referrals they can't do the same thing as in the US. For us here we get $13.00 for joining, and that is it. We aren't allowed to be paid for referrals. You can double-check again, but this was only a few months ago, and I don't believe that the laws have changed which is why we also can't get referrals for Disney Vacation Club or Columbia House Music/Video for instance - I wish we could!

I use www.ingdirect.ca

I was refered last year by a fellow Diser, I can't remember which province she was in, but I got A$13.00 for opening the account, and she did get $13.00 for referring me.

I have referred two family members and two friends, and some of them are in Ontario. When they opened their accounts they received the $13.00 and I received $13.00 each time for the referrals.

I check with ING (Canada) and they said that someone who banks with ing.com cannot refer someone who banks with ingdirect.ca or vice versa. And with ingdirect.ca you must be a canadian resident.

I received my last referral $13.00 right after christmas.

So yes Canadians can refer canadians for savings accounts at ingdirect.ca and both parties will receive the referral fee.

I found the blurb they sent me, there is nothing about it not being valid for residents of Ontario.

That's good to know! Do you think they changed it? I definitely didn't misunderstand that woman I spoke with as we had a very specific conversation regarding referrals, different program at ING in US, etc...
