No, you can't. That's a bulky item which comes in many models/designs/capacities. Airport retail space is minimal and expensive - the demand for car seats AT airports has never been high enough to warrant the product being sold there.

Why do you need a car seat at the airport?

DADAD, we had a zip-up bag that the car seat went in so you could check it as luggage. I think if they have a ticket you can also take the car seat on the plane and put them in it (not sure about that one, it has been a while).

Are you renting a car? I also believe you can "rent" the seat too.

No the airport does not.
If a lap child is coming with you, most airlines allow one child item such as a careseat to be checked free of charge. If the child has their own seat consider using the carseat on the airline or check it also.
Some car rental companies will rent a child carseat, contact your company and reserve far in advance as tey are limited.

Hey DADAD,
If you decide to go the "check as luggage" route, let me know. I've still got the carseat bag we used and you are welcome to it. It is a blue, heavy "book bag" material - has a handle and places to hook a strap (I probably still have the strap).

We lived near Orlando when the girls were little. The bag still has an MCO luggage tag on it

will you really need a car seat for a 4 year old or just a booster seat? If you're renting a car, you can order them with the car (more money of course). I'm not sure about limo services, though.

If you are renting a vehicle, just tell them you need a booster seat, for an extra cost they will supply you with one.

I rented a car in San Diego last year from Dollar and they only had infant car seats, so I had to bring a booster seat with me. I was able to check it at the airport and I didn't need to put it in a bag. It was all one piece and didn't have any straps or anything hanging off of it, so maybe that's why. The FAA says children between 20-40 lbs should sit in a forward facing car seat on the plane. When my son was smaller, we took the car seat on the plane as the FAA recommends. He's a big kid though, so we didn't have to do that for long.

Also if you using a van or car service you can let them know you will need a car or booster seat and they often have them and will include them free of charge.

If you are planning to use Magical Express and Disney's Transportation services exclusively ( busses, monorail and boats) then you will not need a car seat at all. There are not even seat belts available to strap them in on the busses.

There are also services in Orlando where you can RENT essential baby/child care needs, but you would still need a way to get from the airport to your destination. We fly Southwest Airlines and they let us check the booster seat. No problems, no bag.

If memory serves me correct, and please triple check this on the web, but according to Floriday State laws, children four or older do not need a car or booster seat.


Now, wheter you feel comfortable with that is up to you.

1. The laws of physics supersede the laws of any specific state so if your child doesn't fit into a car's seat belt system (5 Step Test) they need to use a child restraint of some sort (harnessed or booster).

2. Renting a car seat upon arrival is not recommended. There is no guarantee that the seats available are appropriate for your child, there is no way to know if they were previously in a crash situation, many times the seats are missing parts or instruction manuals.

3. Checking a car seat is not advisable. The seat has a very good chance of not arriving at your destination at the same time you do, if at all...and if it does arrive it has a good chance of being damaged in the cargo hold. Car seat travel bags do little more than keep the seat clean, they do not protect it from being cracked or broken.

4. Using a car seat on the airplane is safer than using just the seat belt, or carrying a child on your lap. Refer to cpsafety's links on using car seats on planes and using car seats rearfacing on planes for more information.
