Can anyone tell me if the drop in the Pirates of the Carribean ride is less steep?

Any particular reason why?

I agree, it's pretty cool! It's so hard to imagine when walking around the different little parts of MK how MUCH STUFF is packed behind the scenes you never see. You see this little entrance but the amount of space for all the magic inside and how they "hide" it from us...how cool. Love the inside (or up above!) view on these things.

Ok. At allears.net in the Anita Answer column on 6/30/08 she was asked about the drops on POTC:

At Disneyland, PotC's first drop is 52 feet long, and the second one is 37 feet long.
At WDW, PotC's only drop is also 52 feet long.

Disneyland's Splash Mountain's big drop is 52.5 feet long.
WDW's Splash Mountain's big drop is also 52.5 feet long.

The longer drops' lengths are pretty much equal on all four attractions, and as you mentioned, only the angle of the drop differs.

So, the drop could have changed over the years, but I remember the drop (From 1973) as being much shorter and not scary at all. But now, it seems to me to be a lot longer and scarier :scared1:

If the drop is still 52 feet, then it could be going to the other building based on the slope of the drop. KWIM?

The second building on the right definitely is part of POTC. On the KTTK tour I was on last year my tour guide pointed that specific building out to us and stated it was part of the ride. So there you go.

Anyone know what the drop part of POTC looks like with the lights on?

These two buildings are in fact POTC.

At Disneyland they needed two drops you get you under the pre-existing railroad.. at WDW, the low water table and 2nd floor nature of most of the park (utilidors = level 1) meant they couldn't go down another level.. but they really didn't need to either.

DL = 2 drops, 3 levels
WDW = 1 drop, 2 levels

Both are two buildings.

And the drop part of pirates with the lights on was posted here:

How long does this look?

In fact, you may want to take a look thru that thread.. lots of info..

And yes, the drops in both Splash and Pirates are the same "LENGTH" but the Splash drop is very steep and sudden.. and the Pirates drop is a much smaller angle and therefore quite easy to take.

And I thought my brain had all the Disney variety geek knowledge it could hold.
