My husband and I had reservations to Shades of Green, but SoG is closing for remodeling. So, now we're being put up at the Contemporary. Oh, what a HARDSHIP!;) LOL. Anyway, if someone can tell me what kinds of pools thay have, if they have hot tubs, and basically some overall impressions, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Loriann

Hi Loriann!

There have recently been a lot of posts on the SOG/Contemporary stay. You will get a lot of information from using the Search feature and inputting Contemporary or Shades of Green.

I have never stayed there, but was considering it for this summer. The have two pools, one with a slide, and a jacuzzi. The pools aren't as grand as those at some other resorts, but they probably aren't much different from the one at SOG.

I'm sure you will like your stay. Many people say one of the best parts of the CR is the close walk to the MK.

Anyway, do a search of this board. Let us know your impressions from what you read!:p

2 pools (one with slide) 2 hot tubs, one near the entrance to the slide. The other i nthe middle of the same pool. The other pool is besdie the other pool and closer to the beach. They are heated in cooler weather but not very much.
The rooms are huge and the day bed is great if you need the extra bed. While it wouldn't be my choice for a relaxing resort it is a great one for access to the parks and the other monorial resorts. We loved being able to eat at the Poly and GF with just a short monorail ride.

Loriann, we were just in the Contemporary North Garden Wing thru SoG June 7-14. We had a great time. I faxed a request for first floor and not too far from the main building and while I could've been a bit closer, we were pleased to have a balcony and be on the 1st floor. If you have any specific ?'s I'll try to answer. It looks like the pool/hot tub questions have been covered. I cannot tell you how fabulous it was to walk to the MK within about 8 minutes. Also, for getting to the parks by bus (AK, MGM, water parks), Contemporary is the first hotel picked up. We were always able to get a seat. The guests at Poly, picked up 2nd, were occasionally able to get a seat and the guests at GF were almost always left to stand. It's a shame that the deluxe hotels share a bus, but at least Cont is the first stop.

I did a search on all the CR/SoG, and I'm now so excited, I don't know how I'm going to get through the next two weeks before we go.:Pinkbounc I'm so excited!!!!!! It sounds like it's going to be a great vacation. I can't wait!!!!

We've stayed at the Contemporay several times and love it. You can walk to the Magic Kingdom. We also enjoy the boat rides to Fort Wilderness and the MK. The monorail is convenient and there are 2 pools and a beach area. Have fun!

The Contemporary is my absolute favourite resort! The rooms are sooo big, and as mentioned before the day bed is great for a fifth person or to separate (as in my case) feuding children!
You're a quick walk to Chef Mickeys, California Grille, Concourse Steakhouse and of course, The Magic Kingdom!

It's great to Resort hop on the Monorail and the stores are great in the main tower. You'll love it!

Hi, we stayed at the Contemporary in January, and were really impressed! There are 2 pools, one is up close to the tower and between the two wings.... it is the one with the slide. There are 2 hottubs in this area, as well, and it is next to the refreshment bar. The 2nd pool is round and looks like a bullseye. It looks like it juts out into the lake. It was too cold when we were there to swim, but both looked very nice, although not really themed.

The rooms are large and most have 2 queen sized beds and a day bed, a chair and a table, dresser and TV. The closets are a decent size and have an iron and ironing board in them. The bathrooms are GREAT! The main room has a vanity with 2 sinks, lots of shelf space and the tub, and the 2nd room has the toilet and another sink. The colors are quite bright and energizing, so don't be alarmed when you get in them. The upper floor don't have balconies, but they do have sliding glass doors, so you can get a nice breeze from the lake. The 1st floor has a patio.

We didn't find the walk to the main building to be long at all, and we were at the back part of the South Building, facing the lake. The whole walk can be accomplished under shelter, in case of inclimate weather.

We love the coffee bar on the 1st floor, and the game room is fantastic, especially if you have kids! You can't beat the convenience to MK, either, and we had no problems with bus transportation, either!

I hope that you enjoy your stay!

Barring any really weird happenings, you should love the CR. I have only stayed in the Tower, but, imagine the rooms in the garden wing are every bit as big as the tower rooms. The staff is courteous and helpful and my children loved the pools. Plus it was great to be in walking distance of the MK. We used the transportation system and had no trouble getting around.
We ate at the food court in the morning and treated ourselves to a dinner at Chef Mickey's. My husband and I took the kids to the Neverland CLub and had a relaxing dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse. We've stayed there twice. When we can afford it, we will be staying there again.:p

Hi,

My family and I will be trying the Contemporary for the first time in December. We are celebrating our 16th anniversary and will be staying on the Tower Club level. This post is great! It is wonderful to hear so many positive things about the CR. Please post a trip report when you return.

I visited your link to the CR pictures DancingBear and they were great. The waiting is the hardest part....but filled with happy anticipation.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Have a wonderful time!

We stayed at the CR in April and loved it! We will definitely be going back next year. You just cannot beat being able to walk to the MK. Have fun!!!

We celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary last Christmas Eve at the California Grille (we were staying there also) and had the best time! They brought us a special dessert with our names and happy anniversary written on a delectable piece of chocalate planted in our dessert! It was quite lovely!
I just can't say enough about this resort, it has ssomething very special about it!:Pinkbounc

We've stayed at both. Contemporary will be a lot "busier" but you can't beat the
convenience on resort monorail loop, walk to/from MK, (especially at SOG prices).
