Can anyone share experiences using Max Pass with large groups?

It really was an easy process to to manage and we had no issues getting FP's for everything we wanted, multiple times a day. It was easier in DL than it was in DCA. The Guardians and RSR FP's were harder to come by. As soon as I scanned us in at a ride I was making the next FP reservation.
Yay! So happy to hear this...I think my hubby will be sold on using MaxPass even if it does cost our group $80/day just so I don't have to be the FP runner!

The ease and convenience made the cost completely worth it for us. My husband WAS our FP runner in the past and I was certain he would say "no" to using MP. Once I showed him a video of the MP system and how easy it was to use he agreed the money would be well spent.

Have a great trip!!!

So excited about the possibility of not running all over the parks for FP's & maybe enjoy the parks together at a more leisurely pace as a family. :)

That is so interesting because I have read/heard from here & DL bloggers that they come from the same pool but that doesn't make sense based on what you & others have been experinecing...
They are absolutely from the same pool. The people saying otherwise are incorrect. I have a former student’s parent who actually works for Disney and we were just chatting about FP/Maxpass at a fundraising event last weekend.

Maxpass occasionally gets earlier times because of cancellations. Not because it’s a different pool of FPs

I would say MaxPass FREQUENTLY gets earlier times in my experince, more often than not. I wouldn’t call it occasionally. That’s why it seems qeuestionable that there aren’t extras for MaxPass users.

It is not completely impossible that Disney adds to the pool based on crowd levels, additional tracks/vehicles added, other rides breaking down, anything that could result in a change to the anticipated ride capacity. FP machines would not go backwards in time, so this would only benefit MaxPass users.

I would call it infrequent, personally. I mean, I’m at the parks a lot (9 times in February, including until 4:00 today). I have Maxpass but my husband does not, so I am often at the parks with a reason to pay close attention to Maxpass and regular FP return times at the same time. There are certainly earlier times that pop up on occasion, and it happens enough that it’s worth mentioning as a possible “perk.” But I wouldn’t call them frequent by any means, even though sometimes I compulsively refresh to try to find something. Lately, they often disappear before I can even click on them, and I end up with an apology message instead.

And like I said, I actually chatted about this with an employee (not a CM, an Imagineer), and at this point, the most exciting stuff they’re doing with Maxpass actually has to do with data collection...

Anyway, I wouldn’t bother to “correct” this issue, but I see people saying there are “different pools” more and more frequently, and I think that leads people to disappointment when their Maxpass experience doesn’t work that way.

As other posters have said, one way to get the most from MP is to be ready to book your next FP as soon as you go through the scanners. Just have your list of "next ride" choices ready so that you can pick whatever pops up right away. We've been stalled more than a few times by groups arguing just past the scanners and blocking the whole entry -- "I DON'T want to go on that!" "But I DO!" C'mon, folks, it can be so much easier if you decide what you want next before you get to the scanners. Or, you could decide while moving along in line. :)

How does Maxpass work as far as returning vs fp where you have a paper?
If I have the app on my phone but the maxpass is for my kids ticket, do I have to return with them?
or similar situation where grandma doesn't have a phone, can't/doesn't want to ride the same rides??

My understanding is whether you do it through the app or Digital it is all linked to your park ticket so while if you use MaxPass you have to scan your tickets into the app to reserve FP's that way there really is no paper involved(except for the 2 shows-WOC & F!)it is all digitally stored/linked through your park ticket so if Grandma or your kids are going on a ride you have reserved a FP via MaxPass or the regular way at that particular FP rides kiosk all they need is their park ticket to be scanned. No need for the phone or app to redeem, just to reserve if You're doing MaxPass! Make sense?
