Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Virginia Beach?

We're thinking of extending our Washington/Williamsburg vacation a few days to go to the beach. I've heard Virginia Beach is reasonably nice and close to Williamsburg, but now we need a nice (or at least CLEAN) hotel, preferably on/near the beach. Any suggestions?

We stayed at the Cavalier which was one of the nicer ones on the beach which has a lot of run down motels. They had organized children's activities that were free also. I'm pretty sure they have a web site.

VA Beach is an hour from Williamsburg - just as an FYI. There are lots of places on the beach, pretty expensive. Sorry I can't recommend one because everytime we went we stayed with family. Near the Norfolk airport the hotels aren't bad and you should only be 20 minutes max from the beach from there.

Hi, We just returned this past weekend from Va Beach. (Boy it was COLD!)

We stayed at the Comfort Inn (Pacific Ave). It was one block in from the beach (I could actually see the ocean from our window). the rooms were clean the hotel was well kept and the staff was excellent. They have an indoor heated pool and an outdoor heated pool. This was our MAIN reason for choosing this hotel. There are only 2 or 3 hotels there with indoor pools. kids swam in both pools all weekend (despite the cold! ) They also give you a free hot breakfast buffet. Eggs, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, grits, waffles, fruit, cereal, bagels, donuts/pastries, juice coffee...etc.. Right next door was a subway & burger place. We ate at both for quickie meals. Frankies all you can eat rib place is Excellent!! 2-3 blocks away.

Went to Busch Gardens. Great Park! Must be absolutely beautiful when everything is in full bloom. Its about 1 hour from the hotel.

I would not hesitate to reccomend this hotel.
