Can anyone recommend a decent photoshop program?

Paintshop Pro is good for the money. Of course, Photoshop is the best...but expensive.

I'll second paint shop pro... but really wanted to answer well isn;t photoshop actually photoshop?

you could get photoshop cheap if you can buy it through a school?!! we bought mine in the University bookstore.

that is how I got the whole adobe suit for 223$ it came with photoshop, Illustrator, bridge, and some others that I haven't used lol

Photoshop Elements is the laymans version of full Photoshop. For most people it will do everything you need.

You can get a free trial from Adobe and if you watch the sales it is on sale quite often.

It depends on what you want. If you just want something to correct photos (red-eye, cropping, rotation, etc.) then the free download "Picasa" from Google will fit the bill. For more complex image manipulation, try "Gimp" -- the price is right (free).

My brother is a commercial photographer and he uses full Photoshop, mostly for techinal stuff, but he says Elements is really a great program, much easier to use and many of the features of regular Photoshop.

Well I have photoshop elements and can not figure out how to use it. Good luck!

Are these available for Apple?

Most of those are made specifically for apple/Mac

Thanks. I find myself taking more and more pictures and need to invest in photo editing software. I have no clue what to look at. I'll take a look at Elements.

If you don't already have it on your mac iphoto is a good program just for the basic retouching, birghtness/contrast, croping, even straightning!!!

Ithink it is a free download!?

Photoshop CS3 is great I have only used Pro version, but Paintshop pro is good and half the price.

Gotta say the GIMP program has been working pretty good and you sure can't beat the price.

I'm another for Photoshop Elements. I have Paint, Picture It, and a few others but I use Elements more often. The only function I don't like is crop and resizing. Picture It is easier.

This is a free program you can DL it will do a few things, I use it some when I don't want to fool with PS http://www.irfanview.com/
