Sorry for all the questions but as we get closer to making our final decision I was wondering if anyone has 100 points and can make this small amount of points work for them?

for about a month maybe......................LOL

Depends on what you need. If you only need a studio, 100 points can get you OKW 5 nights (Sun-Thurs) during adventure season AND 5 (Sun -Thurs) nights during Magic season EVERY YEAR. Sounds good to me.

100 points is better than no points..............but i know that i could never make it on 100 points.................

We recently closed on our 1st DVC contract - 100 pts at OKW. Since we can only make 1 trip each yr, and find a studio meets our needs, this was a perfect fit for us. Besides it made it affordable to pay cash & maintenance fees that were within our budget. We always travel off season, so like this year will go 6 ni, use 61 pts... bank the rest. Now we will have 100 + 39 for next yr. We may use it for 2 studios to take our DD, DSIL and DGrD.
We may add on eventually, but this works for now. Thank goodness for the Resales... Do what you can afford. You can always add on, either via a resale or thru Disney. :cool1:

We just closed on our first purchase too - only 70 points at OKW. We wanted something we could afford to pay cash for, and we knew we could always add on later. Plus, since right now it's only DH, me, and DS (10mos.), we can get by on a studio most of the time. I already have our next 4 vacations planned: 5 nights in a studio this Dec. = 40 points. 5 nights in a one-bedroom in June '06 = 130 points (using banked '04 points and the remainder of '05 points). If things go as planned, we won't go again for a year or so after that because we'll be expecting baby #2 sometime in early 2007 (I know, I know - it's hard to schedule those things ...but I'm a planner, what can I say?). That means we'll have all of our '06 points and '07 points to use in '07-'08, so we'll do another 5 nights in Dec. '07 ...possibly in a one bedroom, which will use up 90 points. That will take us into 2008, and at that point I'm guessing we'll want to buy another small contract so we can continue to stay in one bedrooms twice a year. If for some reason our financial circumstances won't allow that, we may have to "rough it" and stay in a studio again.

Sorry this is so long ...I just wanted to give an example of how far a small contract will stretch!

In theory, yes. in reality, probably not.
I bought a 100 point resale at OKW and in less than a year, did a 130 point add on for Saratoga Springs.
This October, I'm bringing my Sister, BIL, and nieces along. At some point, I think they'll get the Disney bug which would mean another add on. LOL

I guess other questions you could ask yourself would be, could you work with 200 points every other year? Or 300 points every 3 years? Because with the limited flexibility with banking / borrowing, that's also what you could try.

Even if you think 100 points probably won't be enough, it seems like a nice number to start with, and you could always add on.

I purchased 60 OKW points and that is nearly perfect for me.

I purchased 100 points at BWV 2 years ago. While I would LOVE more points, we make our 100 points work. We are a family of 4 - me, DH, DD 5 years old and SD 10 years old. We stay in studios. Last year, we booked 2 studios - guaranteed Boardwalk view for January for 5 nights each (took some friends) - so we had to borrow some points from this year. In Jan. 2006, we are staying 7 nights in a studio guaranteed Boardwalk view. I ended up renting some points from another member to get night #7...but that was only because we took friends with us in 2005. I could have taken a Standard view... but we LOVE the boardwalk view rooms.

However, I will admit, I am afraid to try a 1 bedroom...because then I KNOW I will need more points. :) But, I know I can get at least 5 week nights in a studio every year for my 100 points. If we want more nights, I can either rent from another member, or try another resort for the weekend nights. For me that is great because we like to go other places each year as well.

Plus, I was able to pay cash for our membership...I could not have done that with a larger point package.

We have 150 points. That gets us a two bedroom for a week every other year. If all we needed was a studio, we could make due on far less. It depends on how often you want to go, when you travel, and what type of room you want.

Wow. This thread makes me feel lile a points hog! :o

After my first round of purchases I found myself with nearly 900 points, and now I've got another 150 pending. The worse of it?
That may still not be, "enough" ! :scared1:

I guess I couldn't make it go with 100 points :(
In part that's due to the fact that we usually stay for 10 + nights each trip. Also, even though there is usually only 2 of us; I guess we're 'room hogs' too - as we really love the space that a 1 bedroom gives us.

DVCconvert -

You are not a points hog! All I can say is "I wish!" Trust me, I would have more points if I could. However, my husband and I both work full time and I teach part time. (I teach mostly to cover my Disney habit. :) ) We only get 2 weeks vacation per year and we do like to travel to other places. So - if I can get 5-7 nights at BWV or BCV each year, I am happy.

Then for our other vacation time, we like San Francisco, DC, Phoenix and other "vacation type" cities. We live in Northern Wisconsin, so we like to go to places with some culture. Occassionally, I talk my husband or sister into a long weekend at Disney in addition to our DVC trip - but then we stay someplace else. Plus, I have to save for college for my two girls, so I can't spend all of my teaching money on Disney points. ;)

However, my husband has been warned that I want to retire in Orlando and work part time for WDW...that way I hope to get park passes as a perk and can be there all of the time.
