Can anyone help with a computer issue?

I play a lot of video games, and I'm finding many of them are too dark to play. I'm trying to find out if my video card or monitor is to blame. I have a Radeon X300 video card, and a KDS LCD monitor, both of which are about 1 1/2 years old. I've changed the settings on the monitor, and on the video card - neither of which helped. I've even tried running these games in compatibility mode to no avail.

They're recent games like AGON, CSI 3 Dimensions of Murder, Crime Stories, games like that. The games that have an internal settings option I can get to play, but the ones I mentioned don't.

Anyone have any advice? I don't want to shell out the money to replace one of them to find out that I replaced the wrong one.
