I posted this also on a different board all together , but maybe someone here can help:

I am so frustrated, we were in Florida on Aug 31 on Sept 2 I called to get a refund on the half of the tickets that we didnt use, the first person I talked to was rude said we needed to call the refund # , I was in the car so I couldnt write down the # and said I would call back, I called back when we got back to the hotel and the guy on the phone said he could issue me a refund and would would post to my account the next day . ok fine with me, of course it didnt , I call the airline back 5 days later, (this time I called the refund #) the person I talked to tells me it takes at least 7 days now because of the hurricanes and all the calls asking for refunds. I call again the following monday because now its been over 7 days, this new person tells me that the refunds take 15 days. I call the refund # this morning , now its been well over 15 days, a new person tells me it will take over a month to get a refund because of the hurricanes, BUT get this the guy would not even look at my account and tell me if a refund was put into affect, he said he could not tell me that. WTH!!!!!!!!!! what is going on,

I hate this is happening to you, and I really don't have any first hand experience with that issue. But from having refunds processed before, a lot of time it's takes a full month-30 days to show up on your statement. Lots of businesses do it this way, not sure the reasoning behind it but I'm sure it makes it easier on accounting...etc. With that being said, it may take a little longer in your case since they are dealing with such a large number of refunds due to the hurricanes. I know it's a hassle to wait on your money but I'm sure they are doing everything they can, just give it a month and then if it's still not on your statement I might make a call to them one more time and then to my card issuer to complain.

Hope you get it back soon :)

I'm a little confused by what you wrote. For what kind of tickets are you looking to get a refund? Airline, Disney...or something else?

They are for airlines tickets. American Airlines. we still have lots of other Tickets left, that I know we cant get a refund for. Thankfully they dont expire. Although this was the first time I have flown in 11 years, I dont think I will be doing it again anytime soon

I would be polite, firm and persistant.

Persistant meaning I would check NO MORE OFTEN that once a week...I know this has caused an awful mess for them.

Also IMPORTANT...I would make a little log of what I have done...with dates and names (of the agents you talked to)...and awwwwww...don't let this taint your experience with the aviation industry...there are phenomenal prices out there!

Persistent...I meant to type persistent...and so now...

I persevere.

Don't let it get you down. Just keep accurate records and keep calling. They probably have developed a way to process these refunds that is different from their regular processes (hence the confusion on expediancy of filling your request).

Are you getting an airline refund??? I'm confused b/c you say you were down here. Did you fly down but then drive back? It is frustrating yes, but I wouldn't rule out plane travel just b/c of this.

Yes, disney doesn't offer refunds on unused tickets--the best they do is credit for a park day back on your ticket if they have to close the park earlier than scheduled as they did prior to Frances. Length of Stay passes should be credited for unused days since they are based on how long you stay. If you left early, you didn't use them all so obviously they should refund that.

Good luck and hang in there--even if you call more frequently than a week, I don't think that places you anywhere in their system as someone who is bugging them or anything like that.

LOL no I wont call them every day, just when it is past the amount of time they have stated for my refund, I was told by the "first" person that I talked to (Not the refund dept) that I would recieve a refund. my whole gripe is no one will tell me if that "original" refund has been put into order. when I check online it says no refund has been processed, when I call on the phone the automated thing says no refund process. I just want to know if it was put through.

Yes we flew down there, then the airlines closed on a Friday after we changed our flight to a saterday (we were supposed to leave sunday) so we had to rent a car ($250) to drive home 30 hours.

I understand about the hurricanes but why the run around. I understand that it will take time thats fine, I just want to know if it was put into refund process no seems to be able to tell me that, I could be waiting all this time and in the end find out it was never done.

Evidently others are having similar problems with Disney and posting of resort credits. Don't forget that Charley was only 3 weeks prior and they may have been backed up with that once Frances refunds started rolling. Sounds like you are getting the run around. I would be firm and on the next expiration--simply tell them you want to speak to a manager if they refuse to open your file or you will be calling every hour :hyper: In other words--you might be a tad more firm on the next phone call. That would get my goat too ::yes::

well I looked online and as of today it lists that I got a refund, but thing is I called my bank automated # and it doesnt say anything about a deposit( which I understand its Saterday), well I looked into it more, I used my atm debit cc to buy these tickets in April and In July they issued new cards, same account just different #s. will I still get my money, what do I do, is my money floating around in no were land

I got a refund on a debit card that had been canceled. The account was the same, it just had a new card number. The refund went through fine. Just remember, debit card credits take longer to hit your account than debit card debits. In other words, they get your money a lot faster than they give it back to you.
