Can anyone explain this shipping issue to me?

OP you ordered from a 3rd Party seller with the item NOT fulfilled by Amazon, NOT sold by Amazon either which means Amazon is NOT involved in the shipping process. I don't know the rules on boxes used if they are supposed to be non-labeled boxes or not.

My guesses?

  1. It's possible the Fed-Ex delivery driver took a photo of the delivery but attached it to your tracking information instead of the correct one. This could mean that the package actually does belong to the house in the picture and it's not really your package. It could be a packaged from Chewy sent correctly to that house in the picture. Your package is MIA (or wasn't shipped yet until you contacted the seller)
  2. This 3rd party seller also ships things in whatever boxes they have available and this time it was a chewy box and connected it to your order when in fact it's someone else's order. This would like the above guess means it's not really your package but it would line up with their story.
  3. This 3rd party seller also ships things in whatever boxes they have available and this time it was a chewy box and it was your package that was simply misdelivered by Fed-Ex but the seller has no clue what happened so they made up something.

I've had some weird tracking stuff happen. Just last week for a brief moment the covid tests from the government USPS had it listed as delivered but to another state and delivered March 2022. A refresh of the page reflected the correct information. I've had tracking info from UPS say it was delivered to another state and purchased from Walmart and no amount of refreshing changed that information, contacted Walmart and they refunded me for my order, 2 days later that order showed up and the tracking information showed only my area not any information for that other state. I've had a package or two delivered to the wrong house. I've also had a photo of our package belong to another house but our package was delivered to our house (so either the error was discovered quickly and delivered to the correct house or it was never discovered that the photo didn't match the house (this delivery was by Amazon).

Well, I’m responding to this thread again with my own proof that shipping numbers & names can get totally messed up. We were just at WDW for a week. My daughter stopped at our house Tuesday to water my house plants. She said there was a package on my porch so she put it in the house. I didn’t expect anything & hadn’t gotten any notification so checked Amazon & all the stores I have ordered from recently… nothing delivered to me. Daughter didn’t think to look at the name or address, just assumed it was mine.

My neighbor texted me this morning, said there was a package on our porch from last night. Told her we’d be home today so not to pick it up. Again, still not expecting anything, got no notice of a delivery & nothing showing at any store I’ve ordered from. Get home tonight & check both packages. They are addressed to 2 different people but both have my complete address, including the full 9 digit zip code. Neither name is familiar to me as being from my neighborhood. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Edit: both were Amazon boxes. I tried to search the names as did my sister & neighbor, none of us could find anyone by the names in our state. I did a chat with Amazon, was told our address was inadvertently entered on the label at the shipping site. I hadn’t even opened the boxes & expected Amazon would pick them up. I was told to keep or donate what’s inside. So personal experience, it’s entirely possible for the OPs neighbor to receive a package that’s not theirs, do the right thing & they got told to keep it.

We had.box correctly address to us, but inside was another person’s items and invoice. Called company, they sent us another order for our items, that we did get. Funny, person for was in a differ country.
