I know there is a new "photo pass" at the parks. Can anyone explain (step by step, I'm a little slow :) ) how it works. I've never used Disney photographers. We did try to get a Mickey photo one time but the line was soooooooo long we said forget it. I take it this is all digital to eliminate the hassle of waiting in line but I'm not sure how it works.

Thanks,
PA

No problem! You go the the park. Photographer says "Family photo?" You say sure, photo is taken and photographer hands you a plastic photo pass. Now... every time you see another Disney photographer, hand him/her your card and they add new pictures to your account. The account is saved online so you can view the pictures from home. Each pass has a unique ID so that only you can view your pictures. You have your own online digital Disney photo album.

Okay sounds great! Does the account expire? Will you always be able to view on line. I'm sure you have to pay it want to get a print though right?

I think I remember someone saying something about downloading them and you can save them yourself?????

I can't remember how long you have before they expire. I'm not sure if you're supposed to be able to download them, but I've been able to.

Yes, Disney offers prints on their site. The coolest thing about printing from Disney though is all the extra options... special borders, character signatures, park stamps, etc. Neat stuff... :)

This sounds SOOO neat!
I am not one to take my camera all over each and every park, each and every day! LOL
This will be awesome!

I believe they are available online for 30 days. But keep in mind that there is a Visa/disneycard offer that you can use online to get 20% off your entire order. I think it's good until april 30th. There is a code you need to use.

We just got back, once you have 30 days from when the pictures are taken to log into the account, once you log into the account, you can view, send or purchase the pictures for up to 60 days, prices are of course anywhere from 14.95-19.95 as if you were to have bought them at the park. There is a S&H fee as well if you decide to purchase them. You can not use the photo pass at the character meals, those are individual purchases to be made the time of the meal.

And you use this card from park to park, each day?Or do you need to get a diffrent card at each park?

You can use the same card in every park on different days. Just one card rather than all those slips of paper.

What about the photos they take on the rides?

Nope, as far as I know, ride photos cannot be transferred to photopass. The photographers on the street and with characters swipe the card to add any photos they take. The photo stations for the rides don't have the swipe technology, that I know of...

how much dose it cost to get it started? and how much much do the pictures cost if you them developed in the park rather than when you get home?

This was my question too! We bought a bunch of pics on our last trip in 2003. I love the idea of not having to worry about getting them home unharmed, but is it cheaper to buy them in while in the parks.

It doesn't cost anything to get started. The card is free and you can view pictures online for free. From the site, you can email a link to people so they can view your online album.

If you buy them from the PhotoPass site:
1 5x7 - $12.95
1 8x10 - $16.95
4 wallet - $ 12.95

standard shipping - $1.99
express shipping - $15.99

You must go to the website (www.disneyphotopass.com) within 30 days of your pictures being taken. Once you view them, they stay on the site for 60 days.

I can't remember offhand what the in-park prices are.

So,.... I go, they take me a picture, give me the card and. I have to pay for that? or only for the prints in the parks or when you get home? How many pictures can be taken???? I will go tomorow.. Im desperate!! LOL :wizard:

Okay... you DO NOT have to pay for the card. You can buy prints in the park OR when you get home. There is no limit on pictures that can be taken, to my knowledge. When the photographer gives you the card, (s)he'll ask you if you know how it works. You can ask him/her any questions you want. Have a nice trip! :cool1:

It is a nice addition, because as others have said you don't have to waste time looking at the pictures while in the park, and you don't have to decide on the 2nd day of your 10 day trip whether that is the best family photo you will get the whole trip....

All of this can be done after you return home.

There is talk that eventually the ride photo might be able to be added to the card, but at this point they cannot. We bought 3 princess pictures with our daughter from our last trip.

There is a chance though, that you will get some photos taken and them not show on the card. I think especially early on with this program there has been some lost images etc. After our December trip, we in fact had another families pictures linked to our photopass....

There have been some glitches so far, but you have an option at the website that you can click that says "I have photos missing" etc. You can send a message to Disney saying when the photo was taken, in which park, where in the park, was it with a character, etc. and they'll hunt it down for you. It's also possible to find your pictures even if you've lost your photopass. Overall... not a bad system. :)
