Can anyone explain Skyauction?

Have been reading the threads about Skyauction, and it has caught my attention. We are trying to plan a trip in Sept (15-22) IF (and a big if) I can find a good deal. Airfare is ok - $525 for 3 tix), and we will just get a 5 day pass (15th we won't be arriving until late pm and will fly out the 22nd, so those days will be non-park), that's not too much $$. My big problem is that I would like to stay onsite (this is a birthday gift to dd), but it may be too much $$(want to try Wilderness Cabins). Sooooo, after reading about the great deals w/skyauction, I went to the site and can't figure it out. Call me a dumb bunny, but with all the fees, etc, I'm lost. Can anyone out there take me by the hand and walk me through it LOL?

For those who might suggest Priceline, I'm not ready to take that chance. I want to know where I'll be staying. I have gone through Hotelkingdom.com and gotten a great deal, but can't find one now for the hotels we usually stay at. If I can find the right hotel for the right $$, it will be much easier for my dh to say yes! Sorry for the babbling post, but I am trying to get all my questions in w/o typing a novel . THANKS!!

Skyauction, for the most part, auctions off unused timeshare weeks. They do have some resorts/hotels that are also available on a bid per night basis.

When you are looking at week long auctions they will usually have check in/out Firday, Saturday or Sunday which means that for your dates you probably won't find anything like that as your dates are from Wednesday-Wednesday. If your dates do change to allow a weekend-wekeend stay then the fees are your bid plus $195 tax/svc charge + $15 Skyauction fee.

It will state the tax/svc charge on all auctions close to the bottom but the $15 fee is added to each booking for Skyauction processing the paperwork.

The bid per night auctions can sometimes be an good deal as long as your not going in the high season. For September you may be able to get something decent and those are usually +$32 tax/svc charge per night and then the $15 fee for the booking.

The Ready Set Go auctions allow you to chose from a list of resorts that show availability and when I looked a couple of days ago there were quite a few resorts available but only weekend-weekend.

You may also want to look at places like www.rentalo.com or www.vrbo.com where you might be able to rent a private house with private pool for about the same amount you would pay for a value resort on property at that time of year.

Sky Auction is a great option, IMHO, but JamieB is correct in that it won't work well for your current dates. You might want to try Hotelkingdom.com. I just checked for your dates and found availability listed for Cypress Pointe Grand Villas, Summer Bay, and Fairfield Cypress Palms...even the available 2 bdrm units are listed under $100/night (I didn't scroll through all the pages of availability). I think these resorts all get pretty good reviews on this board, as does Hotelkingdom.com, though I haven't ever gone through them myself. Good luck!!

Also check http://www.closesttodisney.com/. They have 2 or 3 bed condos and 3-6 bed houses. The condos are $59 or $69/nite and the houses start at $93 for September.
