Can anyone confirm the shrinking Tequlia rumor!?

I also read Josh's article at easywdw. I didn't get the sense that he was targeting La Cava but simply very disappointed with what had been a personal gem. When I looked over the counter last Fall, I could see some of the pre-made vats/jugs. But I asked for the avocado margarita (my fav) and since it was no longer on the bar list, it was made fresh for me on the spot. I was first in line at opening . . . a bit sad and I'm not bragging about it o_O . . . but no one knows me from Jane in the dark Mexico Pavilion anyway. Since it was made fresh to order, it was excellent. However, the price point is now nearing the specialty drinks w glass at Trader Sams and I'd rather have the Sam experience and take my souvenir home than pay for La Cava. I'm also not impressed with the rush you through and kick you out into the Pavilion service.

I agree. If you read Josh's reviews from prior to late 2014 (when they started serving out of plastic jugs), he has nothing but good things to say. He had always recommended them above the other nearby drink options. I think the pre-made margaritas coupled with the smaller portions and higher prices finally sent him over the edge.

Looks like my husband and I will be skipping this. Very sad about this. We learned all about tequila in Mexico last month and were very excited to try this place on our upcoming trip. All the little changes are making me think this trip will be our last for a while.

Our lay two "all inclusive" Caribbean vacations were wonderful. We can go for 8 days in 2017 for the cost of renewing our annual passes!

The last time we went there, around a year and a half ago, I watched them make our margaritas. He quickly tipped the tequila bottle over each drink. I flat out asked him, 'did you even put any alcohol in these?' He got a little defensive but put additional pours into each glass. We haven't been back since. And I waited in line for a half hour for that.

We stopped going after a friend ordered some sipping tequila off the menu and specifically selected one of their bold selections. It was a steep $32 a pour but when the bill came, they rang it up at $60/each. When we questioned it, they said, "No, we gave you this tequila" and showed us a different bottle. After going back and forth, they finally charged us for the tequila we asked for and they poured. They ended up charging the credit card for both tickets. We didn't notice until we were no longer at Epcot and called in to speak to a manager. The manager said it was an honest mistake and the justification was that the bartenders have no reason to steal (up charging and collecting bigger tips on a bill) because most of them make over $100K because of tips already. I quickly pointed out the many documented instances of wealthy people stealing.

I like how his second piece of advice is to "be a pretty girl" and you'll get different treatment. Pretty sure that is universal knowledge in every bar ever built.

The Blood orange margarita used to be our indulgence every trip, but last year we waited nearly 30 minutes for the drink and it was poured out of a jug, did not taste as good as the one before. So we just don't go anymore.
He, being Josh, does make a great point about paying cash. Really an 18% tip for something that takes them 10 seconds to pour out of a jug into a cup? That is ridiculous! Lacava and Rose and crown is about the same with the only interaction with the bartenders is, "what do you want?", and "sign here," although sign here is normally implied with them putting a pen and receipt in front of you.

It's actually really upsetting that they are not freshly made anymore - that use to be a hidden gem, but like everything when it's exposed and the masses come the quality goes down. Shame.

I'm assuming that they are the only ones offering margaritas over there since the closure of the stand?

They are smaller, IMO. Mine was also incredibly weak. Photo taken last week.

The decreased the size of the the To-go margaritas, sangrias. The glass ones at the table are the same size. We were just there in June on the 15th.
