Can anyone confirm the shrinking Tequlia rumor!?

Is it really true I heard Corey mention it on the show but have they decreased the size of my margaritas!?! I hope it's just an ugly rumor...the price increase I can see but don't reduce the size!

Even if they did drag in a flask or water bottle with a few shots ready. We always keep a nip ready in case we want to spice up a dole whip!

which margarita? too many choices, but only one really matter and that is La Cava's.

It was La Cava that I heard. From my understanding good tequila is going up in price so they upped the price and cut back on portion size. Not a good combination if you ask me. I could have defended a raise in price or a cut in size but not both.

have to find out for myself in June
, still the best selection of Tequila on property and was/is equivalent in price to prices at the better city tequila bars.

I was already sour on this place because they no longer allow you to stand at the bar. This would probably be the icing on the cake, ill just grab one at the stand outside and move along

Looking at the photos of the cups it looks like they may have just switched cups but they may still be the same size. I think the new ones are shorter but look a little more stocky than the original cups.

I still don't think they are as bad as easywdw made them out to sound in their most recent review.

I just read the Easy WDW article/blog it seems he really has a beef with La Cava. When I read such a negative review I wonder why and how true it is as even at the places i liked the least i could find at least one positive thing to say about it. Like I said I will try it myself on my next trip and judge for myself if i feel it is still worth visiting.

I think his "beef" is with the quality going down hill at La Cava. They used to hand make your drinks, now they pre-make large batches and pour them from jugs. And now the glass size has decreased and prices remain high as ever.

Having said that, I will still enjoy an Avocado Marg because I love them and you can't get them anywhere else in the World, but I agree that La Cava is not what it once was.

Well this is a disappointment. I was hoping I could get a real margarita there - not one made with mixers and / or syrups. Fresh lime juice only!!!

I also read Josh's article at easywdw. I didn't get the sense that he was targeting La Cava but simply very disappointed with what had been a personal gem. When I looked over the counter last Fall, I could see some of the pre-made vats/jugs. But I asked for the avocado margarita (my fav) and since it was no longer on the bar list, it was made fresh for me on the spot. I was first in line at opening . . . a bit sad and I'm not bragging about it o_O . . . but no one knows me from Jane in the dark Mexico Pavilion anyway. Since it was made fresh to order, it was excellent. However, the price point is now nearing the specialty drinks w glass at Trader Sams and I'd rather have the Sam experience and take my souvenir home than pay for La Cava. I'm also not impressed with the rush you through and kick you out into the Pavilion service.

I was there ~10 days ago and can confirm the portions (at least in the to-go cups) are noticeably smaller. There is a "premium" margarita they will make fresh... It's ~$18 plus tip, which is a bit tough to take in general but especially so with decreased portions. The other "hack" for a freshly made margarita is to specify the type of tequila you want. I have always enjoyed La Cava and think several members of the staff are great, but have to say between the line to get in, the pre-made drinks & rushed service, the prices and now the portions, I think I may skip it next time.

The last time we went there, around a year and a half ago, I watched them make our margaritas. He quickly tipped the tequila bottle over each drink. I flat out asked him, 'did you even put any alcohol in these?' He got a little defensive but put additional pours into each glass. We haven't been back since. And I waited in line for a half hour for that.

When we went last year we sat at the tables and got freshly made margaritas in glasses for 14 a pop. It was definitely a favorite but if they aren't hand making them there are plenty of places to get well made drinks in world showcase cheaper that we will just pass it this time around.

I ordered a patron margarita at the quick service booth outside Mexico pavilion and found it to be strong, well made and around 11 dollars. I was surprised to find it tasted just as good as the ones from la cava.

Also we are going during food and wine so I won't be too sad to skip it.

This thread makes me happy that I can't drink there so to a severe avacado allergy
