Can any vegetarians look at my restaurant choices and critique?

It's our first trip to the world in quite awhile so we are trying new places! We will have 1 vegetarian in our party (that would be me!) and I want to see what other veggie's opinions are of the places we chose. I've checked out the menus - but some don't have veggie options listed on them. If anyone could critique/give me opinions from a veggie perspective, I'd appreciate it!

1.) Chef Mickey's - dinner

2.) Boma - dinner

3.) Garden Grill - lunch

4.) Whispering Canyon Cafe - dinner

5.) California Grill - dinner

6.) 50s Primetime Cafe - lunch

7.) Hollywood and Vine - Breakfast

You're not eating at Boma every night???? :scared1: Just kidding. I've only been to Boma as a vegetarian, and it's certainly a place a non-meat-eater doesn't want to miss. As for the others, I think you'll be just fine. Garden Grill has a vegetarian option (some kind of pasta, I think), but more recent visitors should be able to tell you what that is. I know California Grill has a great reputation for treating vegetarians right. :thumbsup2

Our family of three veggies and one meat-eater are going in just 31 days :woohoo: It will be our fourth trip in about 5 years. Let me just first say that I LOVE BOMA! It is really the best veggie dining I have found in WDW. On my first trip there, the chef personally walked me through the line and explained the ingredients in all the dishes. He also made an incredible couscous dish just for me and my daughters. More veggie options there than I could even eat. This trip, we are trying Tusker House buffet for lunch, instead of Boma, hoping the food is similar and just as tasty!

We also have ADRs at 50's this trip - never been before, but the vegetarian ratatouille stuffed pepper on the menu looks great. I'll let you know how it is!

Some of my other favorite veggie places:

In MK: Columbia Harbour House can't be beat for a veggie CS. They have veggie chili and a veggie hummus sandwich. Cosmic Ray's has a veggie burger, as does the Plaza. Liberty Tree has a veggie / grains dish that is average.

In AK: Tusker House is really the only good option - altho you can get a veggie burger at Restaurantosaurus. I have also read on disboards that Flame Tree BBQ has a large and tasty fruit & yogurt plate. Pizzafari has bread sticks and marinara dipping sauce.

MGM: We've eaten at Mama Melrose a few times and have really enjoyed it. They have a vegetarian minestrone that 's great, and their salads and flabreads are yummy! You can even request no cheese if you prefer.

Ohana at Poly - Their veggie choices are really limited, although the chef did come out to greet me and prepared a special tofu dish.

Le Cellier - could make a meal of those pretzel breadsticks:), but my entree was decent - a portobello dish I think:confused3 , but I do remember that they were nice and accomodating.

We are also trying Chef's de France this trip, since I have read that it is one of the better / more accomodating veggie choices in Epcot.

My bottom line - ALWAYS tell your TS server first thing, and in my experience, they are usually very nice about answering questions & offering different options. Hope I've been helpful!

1.) Chef Mickey's - dinner Haven't eaten there
2.) Boma - dinner- One of my faves in the "World"!

3.) Garden Grill - lunch Haven't eaten there

4.) Whispering Canyon Cafe - dinner Haven't eaten there

5.) California Grill - dinner One of my other faves. Ask for the Vegetarian Unplugged. It's a mix of all the veg friendly sides from all the entrees. You also can't go wrong with their veg sushi

6.) 50s Primetime Cafe - lunch Loved the stuffed pepper

7.) Hollywood and Vine - Breakfast Haven't eaten there

I have also heard that Crystal palace is great for veggies.

I'm not a vegatarian but I love veggies and Chef Mickeys didn't really have anything good. Crystal Palace on the other hand has all kinds of intererting veggie dishes on the buffet which is the reason that we eat there every trip. I'm glad to hear that Boma has lots of good veggies because we are trying that this year.

I am the only veggie in my family but I would have to say Boma has great options :thumbsup2 Hollywood and Vine you will definitely be able to find stuff they have some decent salads. I would also check out Crystal Palace for breakfast. :lovestruc

unless you're eating there to get into the park early or to see the charactures, skip H&V.

1.) Chef Mickey's - dinner Trying for the first time in Aug

2.) Boma - dinner Excellent choice, we loved it. A rare treat, there will be soups you can eat!!!

3.) Garden Grill - lunch Didn't appeal, in fact no "platter" meal appeals, just don't trust that they won't cross contaminate, sorry.

4.) Whispering Canyon Cafe - dinner See GG comment

5.) California Grill - dinner Should accomodate well, also take at look at the

6.) 50s Primetime Cafe - lunch

7.) Hollywood and Vine - Breakfast
Breakfast is a pretty good bet at WDW, esp if you eat eggs!

Keep in mind you can probably get a bigger portion of some of the kids meal entrees as well (often there is pasta marinara, etc.) We never did this, but nice to have that plan B in the back pocket. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies everyone! We have to do Chef Mickey's and Hollywood and Vine for my DS, he's 3. He insists on eating with Mickey AND with the little einsteins :)

I think I'm most concerned about Garden Grill (my mom realllllly wants to do this one) and Whispering Canyon (this is DH's one request for this trip - he MUST eat "the skillet")

I'm sure I'll survive anywhere - but it's good to know I'll probably be pretty happy most places :goodvibes

Isn't it funny how strong their opinions can be at such a young age! We took a 5/6yo to CM's last year and he was out of his mind happy. I had booked PHD breakfast, but canceled. We were just too full to eat a buffet that morning. Saved room for Boma that night. I have PHD Lunch booked for our next trip. He enjoys shaking his booty so that meal should still work for him!

I loved the pasta dish at GG. It was pasta primavera and it was VERY good. My younger cousin scarfed down 2 plates of it!

DH is a vegetarian and we had no problems finding veggie options at all out meals (and we ate a lot as we were on the DDP for 21 nights!!). Garden Grill had a risotto as a vegetarian option when we were there in October, it was really good. California Grill was fantastic and Boma has loads of veggie choices.
