Can an 11-year old order off of the kid's menu?

Now, I want to stress that I am NOT trying to cheat Disney restaurants by ordering kid's meals. My son is VERY picky, he is not a good eater at all. He's getting better, but not open to trying new foods often (especially when we are on vacation and he is very excited about being there).

I plan to stay away from Buffets, as I know he will have to be charged the adult price, and he will not eat much at all. I really can't afford to go to a Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace and pay for him to not eat. Unfortunately, my daughter will miss out on these things.

But will table service and counter service allow me to order a kid's meal for him? These are the foods he WILL eat, but everything I read says for kids 3 - 9 years. Any advice?

No problem... I have a very picky eater (DS 14), and he always orders off the kids menu. I've even read on the DIS that some adults order off it with no problems...:goodvibes

Careful, now, some on these boads will accuse you of trying to cheat Disney out of something, even if you were to use adult dining credits to get food from the child's menu. You will be accused of being so dishonest that you probably cheat Disney in other ways too. :rotfl:

Anyway, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to do this. I have read that others have done this. Whatever makes you and your family happy is what you should do. :)

My 12 year old ordered off the kids menu during our stay last week. I even ordered one kids meal myself without a problem. Believe me, Disney was still the financial winner when it came to our vacation! :goodvibes

Sorry, those of you looking to be "entertained" by flaming are going to be disappointed. Ordering off a kids menu and paying for a kids meal isnt' cheating anyone out of anything. Now trying to pass a older child off as a child for a buffet is cheating, but when you order off a menu, you get portions and the child's portion is smaller than a full sized portion. I know adults who order off the child's menu most places they go. You are paying for what you get and they really don't care how old you are in a sit down restaurant.

I'm glad to hear this because my kids are NOT looking forward to eating at Marrakesh. My 11yo and 14yo can't find one thing on the regular menu that they are interested in eating. It will be nice if they can order some nuggets or something off the kid menu.

We've never had a problem ordering from the kids menu - I've done it myself in addition to DD doing it. One thing to also keep in mind if you have a picky eater is that you can order something prepared differently than listed on the menu. For example, omit sauces and get a plain cut of steak. DD likes that.

Disney's menus often carry the legend, "For our guests 3 - 9 years old." However, Disney is often very generous and liberal about waiving that restrictions on request. Just keep in mind that they could start enforcing it at any time.

I always go in planning to order off the kid's menu. Trouble is, once I'm there, everything looks so good, I just can't resist!
