Guests less than 42 inches tall can ride the Mild Expedition. Guests between 42 inches tall and 48 inches tall must be accompanied by a supervising companion (at least 14 years old).
Handheld infants may not ride. However, all guests may experience the penguin exhibit and underwater viewing area.

He's at an age where he sometimes sits comfortably (especially when strapped in) and sometimes does not. So we don't _need_ to hold him in our hands, but usually do.
So this is more of a practical question. We don't expect him to enjoy the ride part of the exhibit, but we'd like to be able to do it as a family.
Will he be safe sitting down on the mild version of the ride?
As long as he can walk three steps unassisted, he's in. Only advice I have is to make sure he is sitting in the front row, little kids have a tough time seeing anything from the back row.
