My friend and I have known each other for years. Now that he is away for school and I am here. I have realized that I really like him. Even though we both claim that we are just friends. I think that he likes me to. I do not want to risk my friendship with him.. .but it is all I think about..

It depends. If the relationship works then the friendship won't be akward. If yall break up, then yes it will be akward. Usually, atleast.

Both of my ex's were reallly good friend of mine before we dated, and now we don't speak. =/

It really depends on the situation. You guys could start dating, and have a really good relationship. Even if you break up, you may remain good friends, or you may not.

I have some ex's that I can barely talk to civily.
I have others[the two I dated longer] that I can truly say are still one of my really good friends.

You will never know though what will happen without taking a chance, so my opinion is go for it. :]
