Can a family of 4 survive at Pop Century for 8 nights?

I'm still bouncing all over the place trying to decide on a resort. Every time I think my decision is final, I think of another reason to switch. Originally I wanted to stay at WL and that was final then I thought maybe I should go with POR to save some money, now I've found out that Pop Century has the only food court with Icees. I would save a ton of money by staying here and I have stayed here before with a friend. This time would be dh, myself and dd's 8 & 10 but I'm worried that we will be too crowded in that small of a room so I'm considering two connecting rooms. There goes any chance of saving money, plus I won't get a refrigerator but I would get 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. Any opinions?

With an 8 and a 10 yo? You will be fine - how much time do you think you will be in the room?

I agree with above poster. With an 8 and 10 yr old, I can't see you hanging in the room much. We almost booked POP but settled on CSR because we have a 3yr old who still takes naps in the afternoon and DH needed high speed internet to do work while she slept. So I will have some downtime to hang around the resort everyday and really liked this one.

When kids are over the nap stage but before I want some privacy time - The values are your best bet. Remember you can rent a fridge or just get a cooler or plug in cooler. Enjoy the savings!!

My Dsil did it this October with her DH, and two DDs--ages 14 and almost 12. The smallest one was about 5', 100#, Dsil, her DH and older DD are all 5'8"-5'10", so no one was really kid-sized. They did fine. They really weren't in the room that much anyway. Unless you're planning to spend a lot of time in the room, I thik you'll do great. Enjoy!

The rooms aren't really that small, they aren't huge either, but they're about the size of a standard hotel room.....

I think you'll do fine with one room

We traveled with friends a few years back and stayed at POFQ. They had 2 adults and 3 kids (6,8,10) and stayed in one room. We were there for 6 nights and they never complained once. Like the abover posters said, at that age, if they werent at the parks, they were at the pools. Not much room time at all!! The rooms at Pop may be smaller, but not enough to make any difference. IMHO anyways!!

Good luck to you!

Absolutely! We did it in 2002 with a 10-year-old and a 7-year-old (we actually stayed at ASMo then, which is supposed to be a little smaller than POP, I think). We're doing it again this year with our now 13-year-old and 10-year-old. We are staying at POP for 8 nights just like you. I don't anticipate any problems at all. Can't wait! :Pinkbounc

Thanks guys!! I guess we'll try one room! I just thought it would be nice to have 2 bathrooms and 2 tv's!! We do like to spend a couple of days away from the parks but you're right we will probably be shopping or swimming.

I'm hoping to make this trip so wonderful that dh will get as hooked as I am and I thought I'd do better with this at a deluxe resort but maybe if he sees that we can have a great time without spending a fortune he'll be even more impressed!!

I just have to say that the things that sway us Disers one way or another is just too funny. The fact that we will switch to a different resort because they have ICEE's is GREAT. It says something about what fun loving people we are. This definetly goes for me as we are staying at POP in Nov/Dec and can't wait for the unlimited ICEE's!!!! :wave2:

I think you should be fine in the room with 4 people. We spent our afternoons in our room resting and did just fine. We never felt cramped and like others have said you could head over to the pool or walk around and look at all the fun stuff they had. Just a side note that the WHOLE time we were there (8nights) none of the icee machines were working. They just kept signs on them the whole time - I don't even know if anyone tried to fix them. My son tried everyday and never got 1 icee.

I think you'll be just fine assuming the kids get along well. Can they agree on tv channels and not rough-house in the room? Of course, bribing and/or threatening works wonders too :rotfl2:

Another thing is at 8 and 10 maybe you would feel okay about leaving them in the room together so you can get out to the pool or gift shop or whatever when you need a break from the "crowd" or let them traveling as buddies together outside the room while you and hubbie stay in and do .... probably nap :rotfl: :rotfl:

We survived last year for 9 nights no problem. By the time we would get to the rooms the kids were too tired to argue. I think it'll be fine.

Looks like we'll be at Pop at the same time.....our dates are 11/27-12/3. See you there!!! :wave2:

You'll do fine. We stayed 9 nights in value last December and did fine. It was me, dh ds3 and ds8. I was only about ready to kill them at the end of the trip because we had been together 24/7 for 2 weeks straight by then having started our vacation before we went to Disney.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

That is too crazy...I didn't even put my dates in for you to say that but, guess what....we will be there 11/27-12/3 as well....how weird is that? :wave2:

Just a heads up about the Icee machine--- when we were there in May it never worked except for one morning at breakfast and my DH was very very very disappointed. There are only two machines and with all those people it runs out in minutes. Hope you have better luck with it!!!!

We would have no problem whatsoever. Did it for 6 nights in January and easily could have stayed a few more nights. ;)

We'll be in an even smaller inside stateroom on the Disney Magic for 7 nights next February and won't mind that either! :boat:

I didn't have any problems with it last October. Oh no, I may need to switch again :scratchin!!
