Hello everyone this might be a sensitive topic but can is special needs adults do BBB even over the age limit. I know it sounds silly but I was told they won’t do it if you aged out.

I have a disability and been wanting to do bbb when it first came out but never got a chance. Which was really sad. I heard they’re not able to do the makeover if you’re over 12.
Which is very sad in my opinion because I think adults with special needs deserve a princess makeover.

Why did Disney do that I wish there was a way for them to reconsider

I’m really sorry about this thread

On a Disney cruise I thought there was an forever child for bbb but I was wrong

Sorry but just because you have a disability does not mean that Disney will make an exception.

My suggestion would be to go to a salon and have your hair and makeup done for fun.

No idea if there is an age limit for a BBB appt but its easy to achieve the look.

Buy some extra strong mousse and/or hairspray. Comb the product through your hair and pull it back into a high top ballerina bn held in place by a coated elastic. Then cover the rubber with a donut from a store like Ulta and cover the surface with your hair and pin and brush in place. You can add sparkly and multi colored strands if you like.

Now you look like a princess so its time to go to school or wherever you want😉

Have fun!

Unfortunately they discontinued the character couture packages that were at Grand Floridian. Otherwise I would have suggested that.

If you check different online shops (etsy) and places like ulta, you can probably find stuff to give yourself a look that you want and have some fun with it.

There is someone that you can book for hair updos. We looked into them for our kids with sensory issues but they were booked solid. They’re called Bounding Beauty. You can arrange for them to get hair and makeup done at your resort. For some reason I had trouble with their website but you can contact them on Facebook:

If you’re doing a special event, I would order a cake from Daisy Cakes Orlando. They did a phenomenal 6 inch Haunted Mansion portrait cake for us for $150. He delivers to Disney restaurants at resorts (easier to store leftovers).

BBB does have a firm upper age limit. Except for pixie-dusting which they'll provide to anyone. But the hair styling, make up, nails, etc. is only for ages 3-12.

Now since you mention you will be on Disney Cruise Line -- BBB does have an exception for Pirate Night. If you'd like to do a pirate make-over that is open to adults.

If you really want a princess look, I suggest obtaining the accessories on your own before the cruise. Maybe try Amazon or Etsy. You can book an appointment at Senses Spa onboard (or book it in advance) for an up-do. You can also book a manicure, or do your own nails. I think you'll have to do your own make-up -- or maybe someone in your traveling party would like to help.

ETA: Senses Salon is on the Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy. If you are cruising on the Wish the salon is Untangled Salon which is inspired by Rapunzel -- and rumor has it there is a golden throne in which you can sit for a selfie after your hairstyling!

The one thing to also be aware of is that guests over the age of 13 are not permitted to wear costumes. I would anticipate the same to be true on DCL with the exception of Pirate Night.

You can Disney Bound with a fun princess look but dressing as a princess (as is often the case with a BBB makeover) would not be permitted should you wish to create your own look.

Just wanted to avoid further disappointment.

I’ve heard that Disney has made exceptions to the age rule for adults with special needs but you would probably have to ask while you’re there. At least I would assume that’s the case.

Sorry but this not correct. It would be a very rare situation that Disney waives an age limit to allow an adult with special needs to participate in an activity designated for children -- I'd say never, but you know, never say never. It just doesn't happen.

I’m just going off of what I read an individual post (on FB) that her “adult” daughter with special needs was able to do BBB after talking with a CM. I say “adult” because I think the individual was only a couple of years over the age limit. That may also have had something to do with the exception.

Perhaps it’s helpful to remember why such rules are in place? Disney is very strict to prevent anyone confusing a guest with an actual Disney CM dressed as a princess, both because of behavioral issues (imagine if Belle suddenly had a potty mouth) and also for safety concerns (a child might be convinced to go off with her favorite princess). The only exception that I am aware of in the parks is for the Halloween party - and formerly Galactic Starcruiser guests.

Personally I’d rather err on the side of safety vs making exceptions and having one go badly.

I think this is an excellent question. As you know, everyone is unique, and some older Disney fans might love a Disney BBB makeover.

There were some good suggestions for other ways to enjoy a makeover, but they aren’t BBB. So, I think you should send a letter or email to Disney administration to tell them that there are people older than 12 that may want to do this and they should consider a way to make it happen. Disney calls making things pixie dust magical when they do this and I think it would be a great pixie dust magical for this to happen.

If you do this, let us know what you find out. Again, it is a very good question.

We aren’t all one size fits all. A child could be convinced to go off with anyone, in costume or not. That’s why parents accompany children and when needed adults with disabilities.

Sheesh. This was in no way directed at the OP. I’m just trying the explain the rationale behind the rule. I think that “guests behaving badly” is the much more likely scenario (drunk Belle, potty mouth Belle, Belle kissing someone who isn’t the Beast, etc), but the implications of the second could be much more significant.

It may be related to the costume rule in the parks, especially now that the only BBB location is within MK.

However, when BBB first started it was open to anyone. It wasn’t uncommon for bachelorette parties to go, particularly at the DS (then DTD) location.

I think there are so few spots available that the age limit makes sense. Even disabled adults must abide by age rules. It becomes a slippery slope when exceptions are made for one/some but not all. There are other options.
