Can a day hopper be upgraded to an AP?

We'll be going down in March. I want to buy a 5 day hopper advance sale at the DS. However, if I wanted to upgrade to an AP once I get there, can I do that at the gate?

Yes you can. Just take it to any Guest Relations location at a major park or DTD. If you do the upgrade within 7 days of first use of the PH, you can apply the entire cost of the PH ticket towards the AP.

We had a day left on an adult park hopper from a previous trip. While at WDW we upgraded that day to an AP for our now 3 yr. old and was given credit for what the we paid for the one day's worth of admission. I think we go a little over $38 credit toward the child's AP. So you will get credit, but only for the amount you paid for the hopper. If I understand your question correctly, you bought the hopper at a discount at a DS sale. In that case, you would only be given credit for the original purchase price of the hopper and not the full price of the hopper. This may not be your question, so please don't get upset if I misunderstood.

Be warned also, if you have AP's, you will definately go back more often. We have averaged 4.5 times per year since we purchased ours...see signature line below.

Thanks for the answers. I just wanted to make sure it could be upgraded. I wouldn't expect them to credit me more than what I paid for it (but, I'm not upset... it was a good point)

A few years ago, we bought an AP because we were there for 9 days and it was so much less expensive that a hopper for that long. You are right, we went back down a few months later for four days and then 51 weeks later (just before it expired) for another 8 days. We really got our money's worth (if you don't count the air and hotel for all those trips).

I want to do that again, but so far, DH is not budging. He said he's not falling for that trick again! But, I'm holding out hope that he'll have a weak moment.
