I know that some 1 bedrooms say the sleep 5, but can they really sleep 6? Not looking to cheat, just wondering if they can and Disney has an upcharge. I know many places we stay sleep a certain amount but charge for an additional person. I hope I am phrasing this correctly. We will be there and a family member may stop over for a night if they can stay with us, so thats what has me wondering. Wont have enough points for a 2 bedroom, nor would i want to waste them on 1 night of a possibility.

Again, not trying to cheat the system, just wondering how it works and if this would be a possibility. I know Disney would have no way of knowing if we had that extra person, but I don't want to risk it!

You can stay at Art of Animation, they have family suite that sleep 6.

We did the Poly studio with 5 and that was SNUG! (all adults) wouldn't do it. no way. Fort wilderness cabins another good place for 5 or more.

5 is a hard ceiling unless someone is an under-3. Some 1BRs can only sleep 4; most that sleep 5 do not provide bedding or a bed for the 5th.

me, thats why I asked silly!

my family of 5 has done poly studios the past 2 years and found it more than large enough. Although, a set of drawers would be very helpful!

I find this so interesting. Aren't the 1 bedrooms bigger than the studios? As mentioned above, we slept 5 with no issue in Poly studios, so I imagined a 1 bedroom would feel even nicer.

As stated in my OP, I was asking in reference to a possible 1 nighter for visiting family. It would be ridiculous and disruptive to check out, to check into a bigger room for one night. A lot of hotels will accommodate an extra person for a fee, I was just curious if Disney did this too.

1 bedrooms may be larger than the studios but the extra space is given over to living space and isn't sleeping space.

6 in a 1 bedroom would be impossible even if it were allowed since in most you only actually have beds for 4.

And you certainly can use points at AOA it's just a lot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but resale DVC members are not permitted to use points at other resorts? I didn't think values were even part of normal DVC points honestly. Either way, I would not use more points for a one night situation. I was simply wondering if Disney provided cots and had an extra fee if you had a visitor for one evening. I see thats not possible, but wanted to ask here to make sure. Thanks !

You sound like a 2 BR would be the answer. Or 2 studios, that would be about the same points as a 1 BR.

LOL! No, for one night that is not a reasonable answer. A 2 bedroom as I stated earlier is too many points. Studios don't have a kitchen. I was curious about a ONE nighter. Changing my entire room category for one night is ludicrous. Disney doesn't offer a cot for up charge, thats all I was asking :)

They do not. I ran into this situation myself and asked CM if i could add 1 person over per room capacity if i paid a fee. I was informed they do not have that option. Stating the capacity limit is adhering to state safety regulations.

yes, some hotels allow it but don't advertise it. Figured I would ask here first before getting there and telling them no day of. No big deal, the other person can arrange other accommodations. Thanks for your input all!

I think the extra space in a 1BR is eaten away with the full kitchen and a king bed in the master bedroom. Most 1BRs cannot have a murphy or pullout chair in the living room because the connecting door between the 1BR and studio takes away from the needed wall space or the room is just too narrow so it would obstruct walkways in the room.

Get an extra studio for your visiting family for the one night. That way, your family does not have to move and you can sleep your guests legally at Disney.

No one bedroom sleeps six adults. Dvc does not allow you to pay extra for extra guests. The occupancy rules are what they are.

As stated above, unfortunately I don't have enough points to do this, but thank you for your suggestion, I appreciate it.

It'll be our first time in a one bedroom. Haven't seen a ton of pics of how they look. Either way, not allowed by Disney, so nbd :)

We use 1 bedrooms at AKL kidani a lot. Once the sleeper chair and sofa are pulled up, they take up pretty much all the space in the living room. So even if you could get a cot, the only other real place would be to put it in the master bedroom, and even that could be tight!

I've never been in one, this is all new to me :D How comfy is the sleeper chair? Is an adult expected to sleep on it? or can an adult sleep on it?

I never slept on the sleeper chair, but my daughter's friend did and found it comfy! It's about the size of a twin/single bed so it depends how big the adult is if they would fit comfortably!
