Will me and my DH enjoy HDDR? I've read some comments that it's corny but is it tolerable? If the food is good we may not care about the show, so how's the food? We've been to a few character meals and the Poly Luau and enjoyed those. We're hoping we will enjoy HDDR, too. What do you think?

I think you'll love it. The food is very yummy - before dinner, you get salad and bread (with that honey butter!). Dinner is fried chicken, ribs, and baked beans. They used to have a dish of corn with a little onion (and maybe something else) thrown in, but last week they had little chunks of corn on the cob instead. I don't know if this is permanent (hope not!) or they were out of corn or what. Unlimited beer, too. Finally there is strawberry shortcake, and that is the only thing that isn't all-you-can-eat.

They show is a little corny, but very funny. There is lots of singing and dancing, and the people in the show are fantastic. There is a little interlude where a guy and girl go into the center of the floor and sing. It is a wee bit romantic.

I adore the Hoop-Dee-Doo and have to go every trip, my first night. Have never heard anyone exiting saying they didn't like it. Ever. Always glowing comments from everyone.

Have a great time (I know you will!)

The show is very entertaining; corny in parts yes, but very funny as well. It's geared for people of all ages, so everyone will enjoy it. Our family of four saw it two weeks ago and enjoyed it just as much as when DH and I saw it together several years ago. The food is fine .. standard fried chicken, pork ribs, beans, corn on the cob, bread and honey butter, yummy salad, strawberry shortcake ... and the beverages include beer and wine if you're into that.

We thought the show was corny and pretty lame, the food is ok but nothing to get excited about, and the wine and sangria were not good at all, in our opinion. Also, we were toward the back on the main floor and it was hard to see. Wouldn't bother again. We prefer the luau.

We love it and plan to go pack in February just my DH and me. Go it is alot of fun. Old timey slap stick comedy. Many people on these boards have said thay prefer it to the Luau. :sunny:

I have been a couple times w/ just adults and have had fun each time. Last time was with an (ex) DGF (still friends), and she went in kind of skeptically. Turned out she loved it, and we had a blast. The comedy is super-corny and the Sangria and a few drinks at Crockett's Tavern before the show really help. :earsboy: :drinking1

DH and I went this past Nov and loved it. It was on our first night there and it was a great way to kick off our first trip to disney :goodvibes
(oh, and yes the unlimited Sangria does help!! :upsidedow )

We went to HDDR this past Thursday and we had a blast! I was a little skeptical myself because of reviews I had read, but we had a great time and we'll be sure to go back next year! We were very lucky and got the honeymoon table so we were front and center and the actors interacted with us alot which made it more humorous but I would highly recommend it to everyone. Sure, some parts are corny but hey, that's part of the fun. The food was great; I loved the fried chicke and my husband loved their ribs and beans. The strawberry shortcake was excellent too! The waitstaff was awesome and they did a great job as well! Give it a try and check it out!

I was so excited to read this!!! We have reservations on our first night!!! I was a bit leary about making them, just not sure if we'll be wiped out or not, but I am glad we did. Maybe we'll be starting a new tradition as well! :flower:

just from the title of your thread....dh and I did not enjoy hddr....tried twice......not our cup of tea....but may be yours.....the only way to know is if you try youself!

I'm soo excited to try this! I had read mixed reviews, but decided to bite the bullet, partly to take advantage of the dining plan benefits. We are looking forward to it immensely, though I am terribly upset to discover that the strawberry shortcake is not all-you-can-eat!! WHAT?

I just got in from HDDR this evening. We have friends visiting Disney from New York, and they invited us along. It was 3 adults and 4 kids 6-13, and we all really enjoyed it. The show was very entertaining for the kids and grown ups alike! The food was tasty too!

DH and I LOVED it. I saw it as a 4 year old, 11 year old, 17 year old, and again as a 27 year old with DH. Each and everytime were different (though the show is the same!) and just as fun.
