Cam's New Lease on Life Journal (comments welcome!)

wow. I am touched. Glad to know I can do what we WISH buddies should be doing for each other. Wish I could be there for everyone all the time.

Just finished my SF black cherry jello. YUM! So, for the moment I am stuffed, and won't eat my carrots & dip until I feel hungry again.

Hi Cam!

Just wanted to drop a quick note here about the FIRM. It sounds like you have Body Sculpting System 2. Does that sound right? I love that series! Please don't get discouraged about how quickly the steps go by. When you start, you'll want to start without weights and start slowly. Gradually, the workout will get easier and easier. It always takes me a few attempts before I can get through a FIRM tape. I usually preview it first and then try it without the weights. The great thing about all of the activity: it makes time go by soooo fast! There is a FIRM thread on the main WISH board if you want to check it out...

You are doing a fabulous job Cam! Thank you so much for your encouragement and support!

Have a great Thursday! :flower:

Thanks, Tracy!
I didn't get to the store tonight to look for the fanny lifter or whatever that box thingie is, but I will, soon.
Thank you again for all your encouragement and positive feedback. It really makes a difference to me every day!
Have a great night!

Hiya Cam...just checking in to see how your morning is going? What's on your agenda today? It's work for me :( but home soon enough :)

have a SUPER day!!

jen

Should be a busy day, with a great workout planned tonight, that I am looking forward to. My buddies on the marathon training thread have given me hints on running technique and I am going to try to start incorporating them in my Couch25K training. Tonight is week 1 workout 2, still doing 5 minutes brisk walk warmup then alternating 60 seconds running (jogging for me) and 90 seconds walking up to 20 minutes total. Once I have done that 20 minutes, I will do the recumbent bike for 20 minutes and elliptical for 20 minutes.
Am looking forward to a quick trip to Barnes & Noble to look for more magazines to read at the gym.
Then off to Target to find the FIRM fanny lifter to see if I can try to incorporate some of those workouts into my morning (currently non-existent) workout routine! :rotfl: Also have to buy some storage containers to put some of my parents' things in our basement until I can bring myself to go through them. Bringing that stuff home to our house is very very difficult and I just am not up to dealing with it yet. But we have to get their house emptied as soon as possible and get it sold. This weekend will be consumed with packing and cleaning there. UGH! :guilty:

Today's meals:
B -- WW bagel w/1 sl ff cheese (2.5); bottle of lemon flavored water
L (with a friend) -- lettuce, tomato, cucumber & artichoke salad w/grilled chicken on top; diet coke mixed with sugar free lemonade (4 pts)
D (before leaving work for the gym) -- garlic & herb shrimp mixed with broccoli (cooked this last night for today's lunch but forgot my lunch date, so I will have it for dinner) (4 pts)

Leaves me lots of points for flexibility and of course, my no pudge mint ice cream sandwich (3). Still seem to need my mid-afternoon pretzels or ff sour cream & onion pringles.

Hey Cam,

Sounds like you had a great lunch. I understand what you mean about your arents stuff. It is hard to sort through those memories, and get rid of some of them. You will get plenty of exercise doing all that lifting and cleaning. Have a great workout tonight.
Beth

Well, we didn't go where I thought we would for lunch, but I made good choices, anyway. Had iced water and diet coke w/lemon, and 1 small slice of rye bread (1), then a crab cake (3) on a multigrain crouton (2). I also had coffee and one small meringue macaroon cookie, that I am counting at a total of 2 points. 8 points for a very satisfying 2 hour lunch. Not bad. Am not going to beat myself up over any of it. And I still have plenty of points for dinner and dessert, especially since I will have APs also.

Work has been stressful this afternoon. Am looking forward to burning off some of the "bad stuff" at the gym.

Your lunch sounds delicious! Glad you found something nice to have.

The bit about APs cracked me up. I guess you know you've been in Disney mode too long when all you can think is "why is she talking about Annual Passes? Are they at WDW? Does she live in Orlando?" It took me a good couple of minutes to figure out you meant activity points. :rotfl:

Hope you have a great evening!

What a riot! That is exactly what I would have thought until recently! Brilliant minds think alike, right?

Well, I did an hour at the gym -- 20 minutes on the treadmill doing week 1 workout 2 of Couch25K and covered 1.31 miles which puts me at something less than a 15 1/2 minute mile pace. YEAH! Also did 20 minutes on elliptical trainer and 20 minutes on recumbent bike. Exhauste now, but in a good way.

Went to Target and bought hangers and storage containers. Then home to garlic & herb shrimp with broccoli, a couple leftover ribs, and a skinny cow mint ice cream sandwich. Still have APs left, but am heading to bed instead of eating.

Learning that no matter how low your points go on WW, as long as you are willing to work your butt off, you can give yourself a cushion with those "couldn't make it without them" APs.

Night all!

what a GREAT DAY you had Cam...you ROCK sister! :)

just keep on keepin' on, right? :teeth:

i'm a drinking water fool today...trying to push this BLOATY feeling away

AND PS: stop by gator's journal later and SEE WHAT HE DID!!! :teeth:

huggies,
Jen

Hey Cam!

You did a great job yesterday!!!!! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Have a wonderful Friday! :sunny:

Thanks, Jen & Tracy! I really appreciate the support. Was a bit disappointed with no movement on the scale this morning, but then again, I wasn't even supposed to be near a scale until next Tuesday. So, I guess it serves me right! ;)
Because I didn't do this at the end of May, I am going to remind myself now of all the progress I have made since 1/7 (the day after my surgery). Hopefully, a year from that date, as I go into the 1/2 marathon, I will look back on this list and really see how far I've gone by then.

Since 1/7 -- I have lost 35+ pounds
Since 1/7 -- I have dropped 3 pant sizes (this morning I realized my bra size has dropped 6 inches in the band and dropped 1+ cup size -- I actually have to out and buy more bras, in a size I may have worn in college. WooHoo!!)
Since 1/7 -- I have become accustomed to exercising
Since 1/7 -- I have walked 2 5Ks
Since 1/7 -- I have finished 2 fitness challenges at the Y
Since 1/7 -- I have gone on one vacation and one weekend trip where I worked out in the resort/hotel fitness center at least 1/2 of the days we stayed there.
Now -- I am the smallest size I have been since I got married in 1984, even though I weigh a bit more. Looking forward to when I can say I weigh less and wear the smallest size. Right now, the way my clothes look and the way I feel are more important than the scale.

What I see:
My body shape has really changed -- I am less of a pear than I had been and certain problem areas, though still too large, are less disproportionate than they had been
My calves are taking shape, instead of looking like tree trunks
I have ankles
I have knees!
My watch band is big
My rings turn and slide
I bought XL tee shirts at the POLO outlet (boy, they are sooo cute -- I am psyched. Told DD I'd "share" these items of clothing with her. How FUN!)
I am having a blast planning meals and cooking recipes, instead of pre-prepared foods.

I know I am where I am not just due to my efforts, but mostly due to the :cheer2: and :grouphug: and  and :wizard: provided by my WISH friends

YOU ARE SO AWESOME!!! just look at what you've accomplished!!! you must be soo proud

I KNOW I AM!!! ;)

KEEP ON GOING!! You're doing so wonderful!!!!

hugs,
Jen

Congratulations Cam!

You have accomplished so much and I am so proud of you! Keep up the good work! You are doing a fantastic job!!!!! :cheer2:

Hi Cam

I think it is so important to look at things besides the scale. Sometimes it is the little things that get you through the day. Congratulations on all of your major accomplishments. You rock.

have a great weekend,
Beth

Well, I spent 7+ hours at my parents' house yesterday cleaning and packing. Gave myself activity points for 4 hours of cleaning. I know I felt all my muscles last night from carrying bags of trash to the porch and carrying boxes to my car in many, many trips. Also helped DH carry a dresser and a steamer trunk to his van.
Didn't eat popcorn at the movies last night (SWIII was awesome!). Going to see Cinderella Man tonight with Howard and Andy while Jenn is performing "pomp and circumstance" at graduation. Next year it will be her. I go from being stunned to excited to sad at the prospect of my parents missing that.
Have been at work since 9:30 catching up on a lot of stuff. Will stay here until about 4, then go to the gym for an hour, then home for a shower. Really looking forward to 2nd week of couch to 5K. Worried about whether I am really ready to move to week 2, but I have to at least try it. If I find I can't make it through the entire session today, I will just walk through the jog part whenever necessary. Very nervous. Have to work up my courage between now and then.
So, if anyone is reading this, please keep your fingers crossed for me at about 4:30, and send prayers and pixie dust at about that time.

You're doing GREAT Cam! I have read the couch to 5 k, but that's as far as I've managed to go. Between my bad ankle and the altitude, hills here, I'm just not confident I could handle any of it. Oh well.......

Hang in there! I'll be rooting for you this afternoon!

Well, I couldn't do it. Could barely run at all today. Heck, who am I kidding? I never "run". I "JOG". And I couldn't pull it off today. I had shin splints in the first 5 minutes of brisk walking and then jogging was terrible. Only did the first 4 intervals -- 5 minutes brisk walking; 90 seconds jogging; 60 walking; 90 seconds jogging. Then I walked up to 30 minutes total, and tried to start all over again, first 5 minutes brisk walking, then 90 seconds jogging, then back to walking. Total of 40 minutes, 2.3 miles. UGH! Oh, well, I'll just have to try again Tuesday. I am going to HAVE to figure out what's with the shin splints.
Food wasn't too great, since I ate 1/2 a large popcorn at the movies.

Cinderella Man was amazing! So glad we got to see it this weekend.

Tomorrow is Monday. I hate working Sundays. It makes Monday come all too soon. But I did clean out almost 400 emails and only have less than 200 more to get through.

hang in there Cam...you'll make it!!!

I would HATE working on a Sunday...Monday comes too fast for me anyhow...but being that I only have three days this week then I leave to see MICKEY...I think I can "deal" this week! :teeth:

talk to ya tomorrow chic

Jen

Well, here it is Monday morning and I don't have that good satisfied feeling that comes from a weekend well-spent. Spending Saturday at my parents' house and yesterday here at the office makes for some exhaustion and resentment of having lost a weekend. But there was also lots of good stuff in there too, including watching star wars 1 and 2 friday night with my family and going to the movies on Saturday to see III, going to the Y yesterday, and seeing Cinderella Man last night.

It wasn't a great weekend for 1/2 marathon training or for food, but I am going to get past it and focus on the positive. First of all, 7+ hours of cleaning, packing, and carrying on Saturday is now counted as 4 hours of physical activity; I did work on the treadmill yesterday for almost 40 minutes even though I couldn't make any headway on my couch 2 5k training. I only have to be another pound down tomorrow to claim my "25 pounds lost on WISH" clippie. That would be very cool.

Today's plan for food:
B -- lite whole grain EM w/barely there RF peanut butter; lite yogurt (4)
S -- huge red delicious apple (cut up, to make it more fun to eat) (2)
L -- greens, tomato, cucumber, feta cheese, kalamat olives, pine nuts (5)
S -- fat free pringles and pretzel goldfish (3) (two of my "redlight" foods, small quantities remain in my desk drawer. I will finish them today and not replace them)
D -- 2 lite hot dogs (2) on lite EMs (2) with no sugar added bread & butter chips (0); fat free refried beans w/ff cheese (4)
S -- weight watchers ice cream cone (2)

Exercise -- 30 minutes elliptical machine; 30 minutes recumbent bike

All right, here goes. Another week, hopefully another pound. Even though I don't have a WDW trip to work towards (like some of my closest friends ;) ), I am going to hustle my butt toward a me that Mickey wouldn't recognize.
