Cam's New Lease on Life Journal (comments welcome!)

Cam - how did the dinner go? I bet you did fabulous!

Hope you're having a great week!

Hi, Jen and Julie! Thanks for visiting. Julie, the dinner was wonderful and I had enough flex points to really splurge -- antipasto over lots of free veggies; a chicken parm dish shared among 4 people, and a pasta dish w/gardiniera sauce shared among 4 people. No dessert then, but we did get gelato later. It was wonderful!

I am going into 3 challenging days when I leave for my solo WDW trip today. I am hoping to get in two workout sessions while there and with all the walking, I should be fine.

I'll check in when I get back next week.

Hi Cam!

Stopping by to say hello and to see how you are doing... I'm sorry I haven't been around much. Life has gotten super busy lately!

How did your WDW trip go?

Have a great day tomorrow! :goodvibes

Hi Cam,

just wanted to stop in and say hi!!! Sorry I have not been around much, things have been pretty crazy with my new job and all.

Hope all is well and you had a great time.

Have a great day!

Hi, Jen & Jamie! Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate the support.

Well, it is done. DS12's first major starring role in a musical was a huge success. They played to nearly sell-out crowds each night (420 seat arts center) and he was so impressive. Now, we are all trying to get back to our normal routines, and I am trying to get back into the habit of going to the gym 4x/week and doing at least one long wog each week in anticipation of the Minnie 15K on 5/7. I can't believe it is less than 4 weeks away. There is no way I will lose this other 9.5 pounds to get to my mini-goal by then. I will be pleased at this point if I could be down another 4.5 by then.

Food has been very inconsistent, especially with eating out all weekend as houseguests came and went for the 3 performances.

I am going to get back to journaling on WW every single bite I eat, and noting it here, too, as I feel very accountable when I journal consistently.

Food today:
B: wheat toast, 1 wedge laughing cow swiss; coffee (4)
L: garden salad w/tuna (3); apple (1)
S: pretzels (2)

I am meeting some friends for dinner at a mexican place and will try very hard not to gorge myself on chips and salsa. I am also going to try to get all my water in before I leave work.

Oh, and in case anyone is interested, day one of my trip report is here, including all the guilty details on my food intake!

Day One -- Solo Trip

That's so great that the play was a success! Congrats to you and your DS!

Good luck with getting back into the swing of things! I'm sure you'll do great at the Minnie, whether you lose 9.5 pounds or not.

Keep on goin... :cheer2:

I did better at dinner last night than I expected and only went 3.5 points into my FPs.
Dinner was
margarita (5.5)
diet soda w/lemon (0)
lots of ice water (0)
2 very small tacos (8)
refried beans (2)
4 chips w/salsa (2)

I also had some pretzel when I got home (2)

Today's food plan:
B: 2 slices weight watchers whole wheat toast w/1 lite laughing cow cheese wedge (2); cofffee w/sugar free creamer (1)
S: weight watchers yogurt (1)
L: LC panini (6); garden salad (dry) (0); apple (1)
S: 2 small plums (1); veggies (0)
D: ???? (probably another panini after the gym)

The scale was down a bit this morning -- It had been up 1.9 last week after my WDW weekend and I essentially gave myself a "pass" on the week. Am glad that I lost that 1.9 plus another .4, so the scale looked like it was down 2.3. I am thrilled with net .4 after the 2 indulgent weekends I've had in a row. That puts me 3.3 away from my new, modified, more realistic goal for the Minnie.

Hi Cam!

Congratulations to your DS! :cheer2: That is wonderful that he was able to get the lead role in the musical. A great start to his career!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter! :sunny:

Take care! :grouphug:

P.S. I am enjoying your trip report! The first day had me crying happy tears for you! :grouphug:

Hi Cam!
congrats to your son!
I liked reading your trip report! it sounds great!!!
Hope you get some time to enjoy your weekned!!!

Thanks for visiting Jen and Tracy.

It has been a rough week. No 2 ways about it. Friday was the one year anniversary of my Dad's death and Sunday was one year from the funeral. My Mom died 16 days later on May 1, 2 days before her 63rd birthday and 1 week before Mother's Day. It is just a rough time of year right now.

Even so, I know better than to eat emotionally, but have been doing just that anyway. I was good all the way up until Friday night when I ate too much torrone (my dad's favorite italian nougat candy) and then I had my first big mac in well over a year, at about 3 am on our way back from Atlantic City. That was just stupid. And it didn't taste as delicious as it could have. Saturday and Sunday weren't much better, culminating in Easter candy, lasagna and baked ham for Easter dinner. UGH!

Today was a good new start and tomorrow night I am taking DD17 to a WW meeting in the hopes of getting us both on track toward losing some weight. I am worried about her starting college already about 30-35 pounds overweight and with terrible eating habits. Am hoping she will learn something.

As for me, I need to see if this will help me be more accountable. I had stopped going to meetings because I didn't think they were helpful and preferred to spend the evening at the gym. Maybe DD and I can get in the habit of leaving the meeting and going to the Y for an hour. Guess we will see if she is actually going to follow through on this. I doubt it, unfortunately, but am willing to give her a try and pay for it. My weight hasn't moved much in 4 months, so I am hoping to re-motivate and get some downward momentum going again.

Food wasn't great last night, but not too much damage:
S: special K bar
D: garden salad; egg beaters w/potatoes and ham; leftover lasagna
S: fat free chips; fat free/salt free pretzels; small piece of dark chocolate bunny; 2 speckled m&ms

I am going to ask DH to "dispatch" the remainder of the bunny today and to hide any leftover Easter candy.

Tonight is my first WW meeting in about 20 months, though I have been doing it on-line. Am curious to see if the same leader is still doing this meeting, the only evening meeting at this location and just how packed it is with people trying to get in shape for bathing suit season. Hard to believe how close Memorial Day is! I am really, really hoping DD17 will learn something tonight and will really try hard to stick to this. Moreso, I wish I had more faith in her ability to do it. I am going to work on that.

Food today:
B: 2 lite EMs w/2 slices tomato & 1 slice FF cheese (3); coffee w/SF creamer (1)
S: apple (1)
L: garden salad w/tuna (2)
S: WW yogurt (1)
D: not sure. Will see how we feel after the meeting, but am hoping to get into the habit of eating a frozen meal with fixed number of points with a garden salad.

:grouphug: Cam,

I know that this is a tough time of year for you. I think that during the next few weeks, you should pick one day each week to do something special for you. It might be relaxing with a good book, it might be planing a WDW vacation, it might be looking back on years of wonderful memories with those you love. Whatever you choose, let it be something relaxing and special for you, okay? :grouphug:

I'll be thinking about you and praying for you, Cam. :grouphug:

Thanks, Tracy. I really, really appreciate your support.

DD17 and I went to a WW meeting tonight and I signed up for the spring/summer pass so that I can go now through the end of August for a flat fee. Also bought 10 pre-paid meeting coupons for DD to use and am hoping she'll stick with it for at least a little while.

Finished out food okay today.
Had WW pretzel snacks between the meeting and the gym (2)
Dinner was a LC panini (6); a turkey burger cut up in corn and tomatoes w/jalapenos (5)

Did 2 miles tonight on the TM in 28:14. Then 30 minutes on the bike.

Okay, so I must have been more upset last night about my weigh in than I admitted to myself. The scale said I was up 5.9 from last week, but I know that is completely meaningless for many reasons:
1. The fact is that it was the first time in 20+ months that I was weighing in at a WW meeting, so I couldn't expect it to line up with my scale.
2. As I was telling DD -- don't worry about what the scale says as the starting weight. Look at what the progress is each week. That number last night was just a baseline number.
3. It was a night time weigh in, fully clothed. My weigh ins every week at home are in the wee hours of the morning, in the buff. Of course there is going to be a difference at 7:00 at night instead of 6:30 in the morning. If for no other reason that I drank about 80 oz of water during the day and ate 2 meals and 2 snacks.
4. I forgot to take off my cardigan blazer, so that could have accounted for a few oz at least!

Okay. Now I have a starting number. So what if it is at the higher end of a ten-pound range instead of the middle or lower end of that range. Just more motivation to get to a lower increment.

My goal for the Minnie is completely out of the question, so I've removed the ticker from my signature. I am NOT going to get down about it. I am just going to keep my objective as moving the scale downward each week. It is all about getting re-committed and making progress again.

So, here we go again. Oh, and I am worried about the fact that DD's # on the scale was in the stratosphere. Even in the past 2 weeks, the number was about 6 pounds higher than at her doctor's appointment 2 weeks ago. I had to remind her it was a different scale and that all that matters is what she does this week and how much difference there is in her eating habits each day.

So, food for me today:
B: 1 hard boiled egg (2); 1.5 tsp mayo (1.5); 2 lite EMs (2); coffee w/creamer (1.5)
L: green salad w/tuna (4); apple (1)
S: WW yogurt (1); baked cheetos snack pack (2)
D: bites of ham (2); 4 oz whole wheat pasta (6) w/diced tomatoes (0)
Dessert: pretzels (2); 1/2 bag WW pretzel chips (1); 1/2 bag WW ranch twists (1)

Hi Cam,

I am a little late, but congrats to your son!! That is awesome that things went so well
