I just happened to think. If you book a value this weekend, you will probably qualify for free dining. You can't get free dining at FW camp sites. You may want to consider that. You do need to book this weekend though, IIRC
I don't believe there are any value rooms left for this promotion. But there is if you don't do free dining. If you have AAA you can get a 20% discount on the room which brings it down to $75 a night. The campground is $42 a night. For $33 a night you'll have AC, TV, and a room that will protect your belongings during the day. It's worth $33 a day to be well rested. Plus, you'll have your own bathroom. So if someone needs to use the 'facilities' in the middle of the night, they wouldn't have to get dressed to do so. But this does bring a up a question. I do know they evacuated FW for the hurricanes and some of the cabin people went to OKW, where did the tent campers go?
I've always viewed camping as a destination, not as accomidations for another destination.
And I've got to second, third, or fourth what others have said - the heat, humidity, and rain that you get in Orlando in September would pretty much rule out camping for me under any circumstances. But for it to be my accomidations after walking around in hot, humid themparks all day? No thanks.
My SIL used to camp in a pop-up camper every spring at WDW and loved everything about FW. When I asked her what she thought about camping during hurricane season, she absolutely said no way.
We spent a day hunkered down at POFQ during Hurricane Wilma, after 36 hours of torrential rain leading up to the real storm hitting. I wouldn't want to deal with tent issues in the before-hurricane rain when this is supposed to be a vacation.
If the price difference is something you can afford, I say stay at a hotel.
Didn't read through all the replies, but don't do it!!!
We tent camped there in october one year and it was horrible. The place itself is typical Disney, everything was clean and wonderful, but it's too hot and humid to camp that time of year. After a long day in the parks you want to sleep in a cool comfortable room.
